In my opinion, this is exactly what needs to happen to televison. An inspiring show that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions. Not only does this show tug at your heart, but it will give all of us the encouragement we might need to keep working toward our dreams. The trials that these characters will encounter will be the bridge to gap your own life to those that appear in the show. With numerous characters to choose from, I'm sure you will fall in love and cheer for one or maybe all of them. My pick is simple, I will be intrigued by the character that will be played by Iris Kroll. I hold a special place in my heart for this person. We attended middle and high school together. The next paragraphs are the result from an interview I had with Miss Kroll. Iris was so generous to take the time to answer a few questions for me.
Iris was born near Washington D.C. but moved to Oak Hill, WV when her father passed away at the age of 8. With her grandmother's help, Iris turned into a strong and talented woman. I remember Iris always having a smile on her face and a positive outlook on life. Taking her grandmother's advice, Iris gave acting a try. Iris first tackled theater at Fairmont University in West Virginia, where she landed a role from her very first audition. From there she has worked in New York City and Las Angeles. She not only has a passion for acting, Iris is also on the writing team for This Hard Land as well as an executive producer of the show. You would think with all of this on her plate, she wouldn't have time to do much else. That is far from the truth, she not only goes to college, she will graduate May of 2007, but she also is a server at a fun and classy martini bar called The Vintage Room, and is devoted to her friends, family, and pets. Iris has a genuine desire to help others, along with an endless drive to succeed.
Now that I've introduced the actress, Iris. Let me introduce Iris from This Hard Land. The character is originally from a small town in North Carolina. Her childhood was far from normal with an alcoholic mother and a father that she never knew. Iris decides to take a chance and leave the only place she's ever known due to a sexual attack from her mother's boyfriend. During a trip to New York City, Iris meets Nick, the person that will help her along the way. When Nick decides to move back home to West Virginia he invites Iris and she accepts his offer. Their relationship is only platonic but I'm sure all of us will be holding our breaths to see a relationship blossom. Who knows what might happen? I guess we will have to tune into the show to see what is in store for Iris?
I encourage everyone who enjoys watching good drama tv to support and look for this show to air. The crew is hoping to film in the spring and then pitch the pilot to major networks such as HBO and FX. This Hard Land has already created quite a buzz by being featured in several newspapers, radio stations, and tv stations.
