This is it for "Michael Jackson's This Is It," the rockumentary that documents the last months of the King of Pop's life, focusing on the rehearsal sessions for what was to be his comeback and supposed final tour. "Michael Jackson's This Is It" premiered simultaneously in Los Angeles and 16 other cities worldwide Tuesday evening. The much anticipated film, like everything else in his life, was met with cameras and fanfare, celebrities and entertainment's elite. Four months after his death and Michael Jackson's star was burning bright...

On the red carpet in Hollywood, at the Nokia Theatre (where "Michael Jackson's This Is It" made its official world premiere), celebrities walked the red carpet up to an underlit walkway (a la "Billie Jean") leading into the theatre. Workers handed out bagged seqined white gloves to the thousands of fans that lined the entrance. Will Smith got the crowd going with his usual popular antics. Jennifer Love Hewitt (and boyfriend Jamie Kennedy) and Jennifer Lopez were there. Paris Hilton even showed up. MTV News listed those in attendance, from Michael Jackson's brothers and those that worked with him getting the "This Is It" tour together to living legends like Mickey Rooney and Sugar Ray Leonard. Besides Smith and Lopez, the music industry was represented by Berry Gordy, Adam Lambert, and David Cook.

In New York, Ice-T, Russell Simmons, Sherri Shepherd (of "The View"), and Spike Lee attended. Gayle King, Oprah's sidekick and editor-at-large for O, the Oprah Magazine, was in attendance as well.

Miko Brando, Marlon Brando's son and one of Michael Jackson's best friends, attended the London premiere. Over the weekend, he and Elizabeth Taylor had watched a private screening of the film. He told CNN's Larry King that Elizabeth Taylor had had no reaction to the movie other than that she enjoyed it. When asked about her statement that "Michael Jackson's This Is It" was the best film she had ever seen, Brando said, "Sure - I guess she took the words out of my mouth. I agree with her 100 percent."

Michael Jackson's three children saw the movie Tuesday as well, but theirs was a private screening set up by Sony Music, TMZ reported.

The film runs 105 minutes. The soundtrack includes 24 songs, from "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" to "Man In The Mirror" with two bonus tracks: "This Is It," the title track, offered exclusively on the soundtrack, and "Heal The World," his hit from 1991's "Dangerous" album.

With sold out premieres and the demand for Michael Jackson related anything, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" is most likely destined to set more records for the singer. But "This Is It" might not be as final as the title sounds. With rumors of recorded material never released, "Michael Jackson's This Is It" could very well be the auspicious beginning of a very successful posthumous career.

Excellent coverage, Saul. I'm glad the children got a private screening.

You know, I was thinking it would be nice if they had the world premiere in London and invited the people who'd bought concert tickets, but I guess that would have had to be quite a few premieres--at Wembley!
