in another time, another place,
not having felt the stir, the pull.
We could have passed this way before
when we stood behind walls
that needed tearing down,
fences that needed mending,
and love that needed making.
We could have glanced
at one another across a crowded room,
never truly seeing the pain or the light
hidden in one another's eyes.
Time chose now
for us to feel the stir, the pull,
the heat that draws us together.
We tear down those haunted walls
where the ghosts of many linger;
We mend broken fences,
and build one another up again;
We make love each time
as if it was our last time;
We bask in the glow
of all that we are,
reaching deep inside,
fulfilling the hunger
that drives us, pushes us
to be all that we are,
to love as much as we can.
No ghosts will linger
in the places we have dwelled,
for we have loved well,
and what we leave behind
will be nothing more
than melodic whispers
drifting on a breeze.
