This is a Multi-Party Nation, so Why Doesn't the Third Party Get to Join in the Presidential Debates?

The Reasons Why the Third Party of the Nation Doesn't Get to Debate

This country was founded long ago as a democracy with the freedom of expression and the right to form political opinion along with showing that support to a particular party as recognized by the country. Today, we still enjoy those same freedoms because many fight for the right to be acknowledged and heard. In essence, the country is really ruled by the two major parties. Both parties are backed significantly by corporate America. That corporate backing is at the root cause of the current economic downfall of the nation. The following are some suggested reasons as to why the Third Party is not allowed to debate the Democratic and Republican parties openly in a neutral forum. They are as follows:

1. Fear of the two major parties, as we do not want the American public to really know what they stand for and who has helped them along the way

2. The country is at its weakest point in a very long time and with that comes a civil unrest with the people, which is enough to cause them to look for change,

if they knew that the two ruling parties were backed by the very people who caused the crisis, then they are likely to loose the vote

3. The candidates that represent the Third Party have a minority on the ticket and that happens to be a large segment of the voters that the other two parties have pandered to in the polls

4. The two ruling parties cannot win with a divided population throwing their vote to the Third Party, so the less America knows the better, let them keep thinking that these two choices given to us is all that there is

5. The Third Party actually represents best the American Main Street people and their causes. They actually work to change the way for the American people, whereas the first two parties are too wound up in the corporations that back them politically

This is just a summary list of some reasons why the Third Party is not getting the attention and air time that they deserve in a country that was founded on the principles of free speech and democracy.

Excellent analysis here. We are not ruled by 2 parties, but a duopoly; 2 halves of one dictatorship! Truth is, neither side cares who gets elected, as long as its one of them!

Thank you for you frank comment. My whole intent was to get people to realize that we actually do have more than just two parties. While my writing was not the best and these parties may be considered to not be viable alternatives, they are alternatives to the two parties. I do realize that actually there are multiple "third parties" in existence. Some are very leftist in thinking and action and others are very right winged and do not represent most of America.
Also, I have to wonder though, if the winner of this two party system really does represent the Majority view or does it just "indicate" that the majority won because they won the most electorial college votes.
That part has always troubled me, as I do not think that people always sense the urgency of their individual vote simply because of the electorial college. I could be wrong, but worth thinking about. Ya know, with the two party system, its really all about money and PR because without that, no candidate would g
