This Senior Has Moved - and Met the Neighbors
The Neighbors Were Friendly and Introduced Themselves to Me
One after another, my daughter and I slit open a box. Some had nothing bu junk inside and should never have been packed. Some of the boxes contained stuff that had been stored in the garage. (plenty of dust and grime)
Moving to my Villa had its rewards. My cat, Black Beauty and I sat on the ( read) back porch and watched the golfer hit their golf balls. Some of them landed right next to my house. Every time a golfer walked over to pick up the golf ball, my cat thought they were coming to get her, and she ran to the other side of the house. That is why a cat is known as a "Scary Cat".
Today I met the neighbors. I walked out with a bag of garbage. Today is Garbage day. I learned that the trash must be placed into garbage cans instead of left in plastic ones. I forgot!
The neighbors were standing outside near the curb. The men were talking to each other. One of the wives were there and they approached me with outstretched arms. It was so nice to finally meet the neighbors.
They are a friendly lot. Two of the other wives came out to (read) meet me when when they heard all of us talking. I wished I could have served them coffee, it was early in the morning, but I did not have an empty table to serve it on.
We women sat out on my front porch and we were talking about the area, and how they each only live here part of the time. They are known as Snow Birds.
The conversation came to an end when the men came over and said they wanted to eat. They had not as yet had their morning coffee or tea.
We said goodbye and we each agreed it was nice to meet each other. Meeting the neighbors will continue as I get to see more neighbors at the mailbox, taking out the garbage or at a Board Meeting.
My cat kept watching us out of the computer room window. I think she enjoyed the get to meet the neighbors as much as I did. She then left to go to the (read) back porch to watch the Sand hill Cranes.

Post a CommentAgain, delightfully written! Wow, I’m so thrilled that your new neighbors greeted you with open arms! But then, just from your writing, I can tell that anyone would feel that way about you. Up here, the juncos are called our “snow birds†because they only visit during the winter… never knew there were human snow birds. Neat! And you can see Sand Hill Cranes from your back porch?! I’m envious… Yeah, despite the hassle of moving, you’ve created a wonderful little abode there. All my best wishes!
Finally, comments with me logged in! This is the first time in almost two weeks that I have been able to do this! : D
thanks for letting us in on your move
Your view is lovely, I wish I had sandhill cranes nearer, they are so beautiful:)
Moving is painful. Thanks for sharing!
You're so right. Moving is never easy. Like surgery, we do it only when we think we really must!
Having gone through the moving experience, I am glad it is going well with you~Friendly neighbors are a blessing~
Birds of a feather.... Glad it is going so well. Happy Thanksgiving with the family, and the neighbors.
I like this series! Keep it going!
Great article, Sondra. I wish my neighbors were that nice. One couple is great, but others might wave once in awhile.
