This Sergeants Cousin is the JERRY RICE

Try but You Can't Catch #80

Mr. Chip's
I served my country for 10 faithful years (3 yrs active and 7 reserve and one yr was with the 919th SOG now it is the 16th SOW) based out of Hurlburt FLD FL. Anyway the #80 JERRY RICE The Best Rushing Receiver in history along with his good friend Emmitt Smith both inducted into the NFL HOF, Jerry is my third cousin removed. I do not know the whole story but my brother who lives in Atlanta with his wife knows the story. When I was with final Air Force police in CAFB,SC in 1991 people use to ask me all the time was I related to the great Jerry Rice? I did not know then. As the years went on I got news around 2000 or 2001 that I was related to Jerry Rice by virtue that we were his third cousins removed. A little about my brother Scott Rice who met Jerry and found out this information. He was #38 a former free safety for Virginia Tech. He was a outstanding freshman that wanted to "Red-Shirt"this was during the QB dynasty of the famous stand-out QB at Tech Michael Vick. True story you can't make this up (lol). Anyway when the football came to an end and the VA TECH WRECKING CREW graduated my younger brother is a Communications and Mass media major. Vick got the job with the ATL Falcons. I am sure my brother tried. He and I am sure many of the WRECKING CREW went up to the "GREAT WHITE (as in mega amounts of cold nothing but snow) north to Canada. And played in the CFL. That was some years ago. He settled down in ATL. Jerry came into town. Being a former outstanding college player and his time on the CFL my brother knows many celebs including lots of sports types professional and otherwise. Which is how he met and talked with our now cousin. End of story.

Since I am a former "Blue Suitor" this reflects on me and my dad the former Chief of Weapons and Recon. at Langley AFB,VA he retired in 1991 and he entered service when he was 17 or 18 from Spartenburg SC. He is also former Commander of the VFW in Yorktown VA. The other "Blue Suitor" in our family is a retired Captain (nurse) my sister Paula. We are all happy about Jerry's induction and for his family and our other relatives.

Lastly, I have all my cousins Jersey's outside of the ones I have to replace because sometimes I give them away(lol) but trust me I am far from a rich guy, I work at Kmart owned by Sears. But I felt really good and very proud when I sported my gear this year with #80 and rice on the back and #19 Denver Bronco's with rice on the back. The only one I don't have is his Mississippi Valley State jersey. It will run me about probably 3 to 400 dollars now because he is in the NFL Hall of Time. Before that it would have cost me no more than $200 dollars(lol) so maybe I'll go back and negotiate with them. (smile)

But it's a great feeling that cousin Jerry is still in good health. He has been on DANCING WITH THE STARS and does all kind of helping people and charity work. He is a good role model and a good person. I hope you print this letter so I can send a copy to my cousin or email it to him. Aim High Air Force into the blue (hoo-ah) Served Proudly US Air Force AM I RIGHT OR WRONG YOU'RE RIGHT!!!!
