This Ship Has Sailed

Jessica Favata
It's like pulling hair

With no strings attached

Her window elegance of titanic proportions

Was too much for him

He drew her in, or so he thought

But she spit him out

And he sank

And a cackle filled the air

He smoked his cold-weather cigarettes

And the smoke reminded him

Of how she is like vapor

His leather footsteps had carpet echoes

As he did the black- and -white walk down her silver-lined hallway

She was in the window

And her titanic elegance

Sank him again
