This is a Test

Can You Hear Me Now?

Pattie Byrd
There is no reason to panic. This is strictly a test. Do not adjust your computer screens even if it appears to be something written by Pattie Byrd. I repeat, this is only a test.

Hello, out there in cyberspace. Can you hear me? I seem to floating out in the great unknown, a meager voice crying out to those on the other side. Help me find my way back. I seemed to have been lost in the great cosmic world of technology, and apparently there is a ion layer between me and the world of communication.

How did this happen? Apparently, I zigged when I should have zagged is all I can figure. I see others making their way back to the great light, but me, I still feel like that astronaut taking the space walk who suddenly lets go of the rope. Nothing to prevent his floating into nothingness.

Am I still in the world of reality, or have I flown into fantasy where I only dare to hope for reinstatement into my prior world? Should I be looking for the Mad Hatter and Alice?

Occasionally, I catch a glimpse of light and think, yeah, there's the door because I see others getting through, but as I swing my arms like I'm swimming through the void, it slams shut just as I think I may make it back through once again to terra firma.

It's so lonely out here in this vast sea with no contact. I feel so alone. Does a tree make any noise if it falls and no one is around? Yes, it does. I can verify it because I'm hearing myself moaning and fussing. Who would ever think I could feel a kinship with that poor ole tree?

Oh, no, I see there's others beside me out here scrambling around trying to get back to the light. "Grab on, Charlie, surely help will come eventually and lead us back to the promised land. Don't give up. They can't leave us out here forever."

Until then, I'll just float around, but if this test proves positive, then I will know that I've arrived once again in my rightful place, back among the notified. Hope springs eternal.

    Got your notice today.

By the way, I didn't get your notice. I just dropped by on my own like I do as regularly as I can for the 150 writers or so that I read.

My bonus last month was in the toilet thanks to lost page views. I hate to think about this month. I just hope they get it fixed and PERMANENTLY soon. Otherwise, I'm gonna just give up.

My PV's are way, way down...I just figured it was my waning popularity or lack thereof.

I had left for a while, medical reason that lingered on. I am back and one of the first articles I read was yours. Great read. I added you to my favorites and will follow you.

It's been a hard couple of days for many of us, but we all appear to be back in business now!
