This Valentine Day Visit the Heceta Lighthouse B&B- One of Oregon's Most Well Known B&B's
Heceta Lighthouse B&B is Reported to Be Haunted
Heceta Head Lighthouse - (pronounced "Ha-See-Ta" by many visitors and "Heck - Ah - Ta" by many others in Oregon. Located on US Hwy 101 near Florence, Oregon. Heceta Head Lighthouse and the Light Keeper's house were built around 1894. The lighthouse is a working lighthouse and sits 205 feet above the ocean waves. The lighthouse can be seen as far as 21 miles at sea by vessels traveling across the ocean waters off the coast of Oregon.
Perched on the cliff with views of the Pacific Ocean, the Keeper's House has five guest rooms with prices ranging between $174 and $315 a night in 2011. Each room is aptly named such as The Mariner's Room I & II, Lightkeeper's Room, Victoria's Room, Cape Cove Room, and the Queen Anne Room. Breakfast is served every morning and is created daily by Mike and Carol Korgan. The Heceta Head Light Keeper's House B&B serves a seven course breakfast made from local fare and guests can sometimes catch the Heceta Chef's picking the meals herbs and ingredients right there at the Lighthouse garden.
The Heceta Head Lighthouse is claimed to be haunted guests, and visitors can tour the Keeper's House. Reported to be haunted by the Lady in Gray, now referred to as Rue, was supposed to be the wife of an assistant keeper around 1890. The story involves the drowning of a daughter and the sad suicide of the mother. There is a legend that the young girls grave is somewhere on the grounds of Heceta Head and the local vegetation has obscured it from visitors view.
Stories abound regarding the frightening events of those who have been visited by Rue. However, there are many reported encounters by guests that are not frightening but stated to be friendly encounters with Rue.
Perhaps a night at the Heceta Head Lighthouse B&B is just the place for this year's haunted Valentine celebration. Keep in mind however, reservations are a must and there is no guarantee that The Lady In Gray will appear to your or your Valentine. But, the visit need not be a disappointment as the Heceta Lighthouse B&B is a wonderful place with romance, beautiful views, long romantic walks along the ocean, and a great breakfast to look forward too.

Oh, my, lighthouse, ghost, Valentine's Day! What a combo. Seriously, tho, as a lighthouse freak and ghost fanatic, I'd kill to stay there. I am bookmarking this in case I ever decide to get on a plane again and fly out west. Or maybe I can talk hubby into driving.
Sounds like a great place... a bit far for me...
