· Inspire community action by taking your kids to the Youth Development Conference at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This all day event is sponsored by The Greater Philadelphia Federation of Settlements and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The Youth Development Conference features leadership activities and positive programs for local youth. The conference begins Friday, November 9, 2007 @ 8:00 am and takes place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (12th and Arch Streets Philadelphia, PA 19107).
Saturday, November 10
· Expose the kids to some early holiday cheer at Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill's 2007 Christmas Bazaar. This charitable event is the perfect way to kick of the 2007 holiday season and get a head start on your Christmas shopping. The 2007 Christmas Bazaar will feature a baked and canned goods table, a books section, a jewelry table, a handmades room, an antiques section, and chance to win the gift basket raffle. For the first time in '07 there will also be a vendor room full of great gifts and seasonal decorations. This event takes place from 8:30 am-2 pm at 8855 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19118.
· Learn all about trains at the Camden Children's Garden's Train Festival. Part of the CCG's Second and Fourth Saturday Series, this fun event is sure to have something for everyone. Study the permanent G-Scale train displays, ride the Arrow River Train ride, or enjoy crafts, games, entertainment, a reading of The Polar Express and meet area train vendors. The fun starts Saturday, November 10, 2007 @ 11:00 am at the Camden Children's Garden (3 Riverside Drive, Camden, NJ 08103).
· Take the kids to the kitchen with this exciting event: Kids Can Cook, Too!, sponsored by Public Eye: Artists for Animals' Kids Club is all about art and educational activities that teach compassion for animals. November's activity features chefs Allison Geiger & Ai Mahoney who will teach a vegan cooking class for kids. Sunday, November 11
· Join the German Society of Philadelphia in celebrating the St. Martin's Day Parade. For the second year, the German Society celebrates its own rendition of the St. Martin's Day Parade as children carrying lanterns march throughout Northern Liberties (accompanied by a police escort). Kids of all ages are welcome to attend! This fun and free event takes place Sunday, November 11, 2007 @ 4:00 pm, families will meet in the Ratskeller (611 Spring Garden Street Philadelphia, PA 19123) at 4 pm, march around the neighborhood and then return to the Ratskeller for some toasty, tasty goodies of our own.
