Those Free Government Grants

Every day I see the adds for getting in on the free money from government grants; the billions that is given away every day by the federal government. I have visited some of these sites and they all seem to be the same. The first page gives tons of "real" instances where people like you and me received thousands in free money. To see if you qualify to get some of your own, just fill out the form and hit continue. The next page says "Congratulations
You Qualify! ( As if anyone would be disqualified!) So next you fill out all your personal information on the open Internet and send in your money to get the free kit that shows you how to get your money, And when it arrives you are told to go the government web address that lists all the 2257 grants available. Well that information is free and available on the Internet free. The address is
http://www.grant-opportunities.idilogic.aidpage.com/grantopportunities/ and it does give all the available grants and how much money is available. To find out how to qualify, just click on the particular grant title and see who is eligible.

All the money given out for grants is given to institutions only. The government does not give money to private individuals except to graduate students working on their thesis. So if you are a non-profit organization, feel free to find your particular grant institution and apply away. Oh, don't forget to meet all the requirements for receiving the money. In short, all these web sites are just scams to get some money from you. Even if you only need to send in $1.00 to pay for shipping, imagine if 50,000 people sent in their dollars--nice easy way to make money.

The fact is that there is no easy money from the federal government. Every penny these institutions get is highly regulated (too bad the big banks did not have such regulations) by very specific rules. And the application is a life-time study in itself. There are professional grant application writers out there that specialize in the correct wording that will catch the government's eye.

So do not be fooled into thinking that Obama is giving the grant money to individuals. He is giving more money to these grant institutions, but the regulations have not changed. I have tried to apply through various institutions because I am at present disabled and very low income (like none) and I still do not qualify! I am either too old, too young, too poor, not poor enough (how anyone could be any poorer is beyond me!) or applying in the wrong year! :-)
