Thou Shall Not Lust

Amanda Kidd
"Demolish, therefore whatever belongs to your earthly temple," says the Lord. Many believe that lust is limited to an intense sexual desire. Contrary to this belief, lust is an intense desire for any gratification. In fact, lust is a culprit behind sin. If you're single or married with sexual cravings in your heart for others, that is lust. The Word reminds us if we lust after people; we've already committed the sin in our heart. Some would oppose this statement, however, who are we to challenge our Creator. Some individuals work extreme shifts to build capital because they are obsessed with money, but the love of money is the root to all kinds of evilness says the Lord. If one is indigent and trying to escape poverty, I believe that's justifiable. However, loving money is a sin.

Lust also controls our minds on a daily basis. If you are lusting it is intense which is defined - extreme in a high degree or having strong feelings. If one's mind is congested with extreme feelings, how can we function effectively? Our concentration is lust-jacked by these sinful cravings. Lust can also be a crime if you're craving deadly revenge toward your enemy. This may be ill willed, but its lust. If you contemplate and anticipate those new jeans, shoes, cars, and beyond, before purchasing because your mind is occupied by these items, then my friend you are lusting (traditionally known as materialistic). Our Father the Sovereign Lord, always knows what's beneficial for the human race. He knows that lust is a sinful plight that can lead us to hell, because our minds should be occupied with spiritual enrichments for the soul. We are to put God first and when our minds are invaded with these thoughts, it's simply seeking first redundant or wrongful gain. We are commanded to seek first His righteousness and all these things will be added (if it's God's will). The good Lord wants us to prosper, but there's a word for those who put anything before God. What good is it to gain the entire world yet lose your soul?
