Thought of that Thursday

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Today is Thursday and that means it is time for Thought of That Thursday. Thought of That Thursday is the day when I'll tell you the answer to Teaser Tuesday's brain teaser.

Did you miss Tuesday's brainteaser? View it here.

When we last left Ace, he had figured out how to carry three cantaloupes across a bridge even though if he actually carried them all at once, the bridge would break because his weight plus the weight of all three cantaloupes would've been too heavy for the bridge.

The bridge could only hold 200 lbs.

Ace weighted 190 lbs.

Each cantaloupe weighed 5 lbs.

This meant that Ace and all three cantaloupes weight a total of 205 lbs, which would be too heavy for the bridge. If I Ace didn't think of a way to carry the cantaloupes across, then the bridge would fall.

There were many good questions.

It did not matter what was under the bridge. Ace had to cross it without it breaking and he did not want to have to cross the bridge more than once. There could've been mud, water, alligators, or even a pit of hot lava flames under the bridge. That could be left up to your imagination.

There was a guess that the bridge was short enough for Ace to roll a cantaloupe all the way across it. However, the bridge was not short enough for that.

There was also a guess that Ace found some type of branch and created a sling and was able to somehow put the cantaloupes in a sling and then put them across the bridge. This was not the situation either.

Did he make anything? No.

Did he ever drop a cantaloupe? No.

Were all three cantaloupes in his hands at all times? No.

Hopefully that last question made the answer more obvious. It was guessed.

Ace reviewed his skills. He remembered that he could juggle! This meant that he never had more than two cantaloupes in his hands at any time. Because of this, the weight was never more than 200 lbs. and Ace was able to cross the bridge only once!
