Thoughtful Christmas Presents

Gifts from the Heart

wendy van
Christmas is coming soon and we all want to bless our friends with a special gift. I know that sometimes that can be difficult because of finances. In this article I am going to give you some ideas of how you can bless your friends with some thoughtful gifts. They will truly appreciate them too. These gifts are inexpensive and easy to make. Some don't even require that you make them. They are the gift of giving time.

The first gift that I would like to tell you about is decoupage. For just a few dollars you can go to your local craft store and get some decoupage glue. If you are not sure what this is just go to the cashier and ask them to show it to you. They will have it. The purpose of this glue is to glue paper items to surfaces of your choice. I will give you a few ideas. You can take some Christmas napkins and apply them to a terra cotta pot. What you will need to do is separate the papers of the napkins. There should be about two of them stuck together. You only want the one with the picture. You can apply glue to the back of the paper and place it onto the terra cotta pot. Make sure that your pot is clean before you do this. Smooth down the paper and make sure that there are no wrinkles in it. Once the glue has dried you can apply a second coat. This will add shine to the pot. When the glue has dried a second time you can take puffy paint and paint snow or decorations onto the decorated pot. Another item that you can decoupage is a wood plaque. Apply any picture that you would like to your wood piece and follow the same instructions as above. Add a friends last name to the piece so that they can hang it above their door.

The second gift that I would like to tell you about is a basket that is full of some sparkling cider, wine glasses, and some candles. This can go to your friends that have not been married that long. These people will enjoy this romantic idea. They will be able to use it at their convenience and I am sure that they will thankyou for the thoughtful idea.

A third idea as a gift is to give someone some of your time. You can make them a nice little card that states that you are willing to give an hour or so of your time to babysit for them, or do some errands for them, or even some housecleaning. People always love this and will take you up on your offer. There are so many couples that would love to go out and don't have a babysitter. Now they won't have to worry about that. They can feel free to enjoy themselves.

How about making some homemade treats for your friends and placing them into pretty baskets? People love to eat at the holidays. They also like to try new recipes. You can write your recipe on a card and attach it to the basket as well. This will give them an opportunity to have company over and they will have dessert for their company too.

One last gift that I would like to share with you is a really nice one. If you have a printer at home or access to one, you can print up some beautiful poems or sayings off of the internet. Buy some inexpensive frames to hold these poems. Decorate the frame with flowers and ribbons. This is a really personal gift and it won't cost you that much. It also shows that you took your time to find the very perfect poem for your friend. Another idea that you can do along the same lines as the poems is that you can type in your friends first name. God on the internet and find out what the person's name means. Under your friends name, place the meaning of her name and a scripture to go along with it. This is a great blessing for people. They will definitely want to hang it up.

Here are some ideas to get you started in the right direction for your gift giving for the holidays. I hope that they have helped you. Take advantage of giving the ones that are free too. These are the ones that a lot of people really do enjoy because you are giving of yourself. They will really know that you care when you give them your time. May you have a blessed holiday season.
