For your Lady
Most women can appreciate the simple things in life and especially when it comes to a day to express your feelings. As we all know, flowers are a standard gift for Valentine's Day. Most women will appreciate them just as they are. If you really want to get the point across, making sure to find out what her favorite flower is and showing up with them would be the key. This lets her know that you pay attention, and that you put forth some time and effort in to the gift giving. If your partner has expensive taste in the flower department, there is nothing wrong with just purchasing a few of her favorites and making a point to have them wrapped up all pretty with some ribbon and such. Trust the florist, they know how to make them special. A heart felt card attached is important fellas. Something more than a simple signature is expected and cherished.
All women like to know that you are tuned in to what makes them tick. Women want to know you pay attention to them and what they enjoy in life. If your significant other has a certain author they read then go and see if there is a new publication that they haven't read yet. If she has a musical artist or band that she just adores then make her a CD of all her favorite songs by them. If she doesn't own a certain movie that you know she loves, well then pick that up for her.
A nice way to remind your lady that you pay attention and care is to make her a little care package. Pick up a small basket and put all her favorite things in it that you know she uses regularly. Things like her favorite hand lotion, lip balm, and nail polish would be a big hit. Whatever you know she has with her most all the time and just can not live without. You can toss a couple movie tickets in the basket to top it off and you have made her a very happy girl. She now knows you were thinking about her.
For your Man
Alright ladies, first things first. Men are not above getting flowers. I think that most men would really appreciate a simple long stem rose with a heart felt card. Let them know you appreciate them and need them. Make sure you express to them some sort of sentiment other than your name. We all know that most men put up that macho exterior but they still want to know how you feel. So tell them and show them. They are not all pigs.
Most men enjoy sports to some degree. Why not pick up a coffee or beer mug with there favorite sports team and fill it with your mans favorite candy? Wrap it up in some tissue with a ribbon, attach a sweet card, and you have now killed two birds with one stone. Sports and candy, happy happy boy.
Here is an idea for the couple that is long term. Many men have certain expectations in the night time clothing department. I think that a nice idea would be to purchase a his and hers night time apparel set as a gift. Maybe some simple boxers and a pretty little matching nightgown for yourself. Wrap them up together and let him open it. This will more than likely let him know that you realize that your p.j. pants are not the sexiest thing that you own, and that you want him to be happy with what you wear to bed. Of course you need to take in to consideration his favorite colors and styles here. By doing that you are letting him know you want him to be happy and that you can and will accommodate his requests and personal preference. Guys dig that.
Some of the things that I listed for the ladies can of course be used for the mens gifts as well. Most guys would appreciate their favorite movie or music. I think that men have certain things that interest them and anything in that department would be a great idea. Weather they are in to sports, games, or tools, all of these things would be appreciated as long as you have put some thought in to it.
Valentine's Day is a day to show your love, respect, admiration, and appreciation. Even if a gift is not in the cards for you and your mate, at least make a point to steal a minute of their time and tell them how you feel. Of course this is something you should do everyday but sometimes is put to the wayside with the stresses of day to day life. At least make a point to do it on Valentine's Day and let your partner know that you are still their partner for a very specific reason. It really doesn't have to be a Hallmark holiday. Make it your own, and make it about your commitment to each other.
