Thoughts on Illegal Immigration

Articles
America does not have an immigration problem it has an illegal immigration problem. Economies are straining under the weight of enormous costs to feed, house, and get medical care to illegal immigrants. It is ironic that California, one of the richest economies in the world, is routinely facing budget shortfalls. This gives you some idea of the scope of the problem. Things may only get worse.

The United States should let in people who are highly skilled such as people with Ph.D.'s and people with other sought after and marketable trades. The economy is going increasingly high-tech. Allowing in masses of people with limited technical skills will exacerbate the problem.

Population growth is a main concern to those who know that resources and services are not infinite. There is a population bubble growing and its ramifications will be felt by all. It is simple economics really, when there are more people taking from the system instead of giving to it there will be collapse.

It is amazing that people who come to the United States illegally demand a multitude of rights. The only rights a criminal has is to be prosecuted fairly by the law. Millions of people around the world take the legal steps to be an American citizen. What makes illegal immigrants think that they deserve to cut in line in front of these honest people. This is a travesty.

Next, is the issue of security. If we have wide open borders how can we honestly say that we are secure. If we have no system determining who's in the country legally how do we define what it means to be an American. As people have said before, America is a nation of laws and those who will not follow these laws shall reap the whirlwind.

Perhaps the government should make it more clear what is required to become a legal citizen of the United States. I have no problem with showing foreign nationals how they can enter the country legally and possibly become a citizen. I could see the immigration bureaucracy becoming more efficient and smoothing out the process. I think these would be steps in the right direction. However, blatant disrespect for these laws can be no excuse for not taking advantage of them.

It is crucial for the citizens of foreign countries to take a proactive step in improving their own country before they give up and head for the United States. The citizens should fight corruption tooth and nail. Then maybe one day they can be proud of their homeland again and desires to leave will subside

I was born in mexico but raised in the United States of America. I respect this country so much, I know so much more about it than my own country. I am what you call a normal teenager except for the fact that I am illegal, but I love it here. I want a wonderful future and I want to attend college, this is so much harder for me now that everything for immigrants is becoming for difficult. i cry myself to sleep knowing that I might never go to college and that i might never reach my dream. I hope that when you think of us, you also consider the kids and teens that want a good life, and those who do respect this country.

I agree with a lot of what you say, just start making more noise about people, businesses, and companies in the U.S. who enable illegal immigration!
