Thoughts of a Mother as Her Son Turns 18

Bittersweet..

Janet Hunt
Bittersweet are my thoughts today
As I present you with card and cake

They do so little
To portray my thoughts

With tears in my eyes
And pride in my heart

I watch as you begin
To take that walk

The victories you have won
And the battles you have fought

The journey into manhood
Is one you have begun

I am only so proud
To have you as my son

Enjoy this day
For all too soon you'll be

One of the few and the proud...

A United Stated Marine!
