Thoughts of a Stepmother

To a Once Little Girl

Need Coffee
Your biggest cheerleader, your biggest fan,

He's your father, the love of my life, my confidante, my friend.

Acceptance seems unlikely, let bitterness not prevail.

Our friendship could progress to give us love, strength,

And comfort from life's stress.

You will never know the undying love I feel for you,

A child who would grow.

Now a young woman, stubborn, fiery, and cold,

I miss that little girl who came to me to hold.

God Bless you little child, still within your heart,

A product of your environment, let's not drift apart.

God bless you young woman with memories so strong,

Of a mother, a father, and one who chose to tag along.

The bitterness you've shown me, the anger and the pain,

Will someday subside leaving us with happiness again.

A stepmother is a special person choosing to be a part,

The family that she chooses is the luckiest by far.
