Teaching isn't an eight to three or seven to two job. Teachers often have to take their work home with them when they leave the school. Teachers have to grade student work, come up with lesson plans, communicate with parents and guardians, evaluating students, reflecting on lesson plans and activities, etc. Teachers also spend a lot of their summer time in workshops and continuing education classes. While a lot of them are optional, teachers won't get certain raises or bonuses unless they attend them.

Teachers are highly valuable because they empower future generations with knowledge and understanding. Teachers teach students fundamental and basic skills that they'll need in order to succeed in life. However, teachers do more than teach from textbooks and curricula, they teach students about life and the word we live in. While teachers are only required to teach from a curriculum, the best teacher teaches things students need to know that are not found in any books or resources.
I want to be a teacher because teachers touch lives and really have a huge impact on their students lives. When I was in high school, I had an English teacher who really believed in me and had a lot of confidence in me. This gave me the courage to keep on writing although I was burned out, and to write my best. I ended up getting an A in the class and have never doubted my writing abilities since. After my encounter with that teacher, I knew that I wanted to do the same thing with my life. I knew that I wanted to be a teacher so that I could have a positive impact on the lives of others and to have an influence in their lives.
My final thought about teachers is that the math statement couldn't be truer. To teach really does mean touching lives forever. The best teachers can really reach their students and play a big role in their lives. The best teachers work the hardest, but they're the ones who get the most intrinsic rewards out of it. They're also the ones who enjoy teaching the most and coming to work. The best teachers are the ones who are the ones who are remembered the most because they're the ones who touch their students the deepest.
