Three Alternative Recipes for the Master Cleanse Diet

Kelly O'Neil
Countless celebrities and others have tried the controversial Master Cleanse for detoxifying the body and weight loss and have loved the results. If you have done the research, consulted with your doctor and are ready to join the ranks, but the harsh taste of the Master Cleanse lemonade recipe has you shying away from doing your own cleanse, try these three variations to make the drink at least a little more palatable (or maybe even good), and your cleanse easier to stay on, and, consequently, more successful.

Your first option is simply to water down the concoction more. Although the lemonade itself is not half bad taste wise, it is very acidic. If you are looking for a little relief, simply fill your container with whatever lemonade you intend to drink, and after each sip or so, add water to replace what you drank. By the time you have sipped on your lovely lemonade for a few hours, it will taste just like a light lemon water. Best of all, you will be upping your water intake while you tame your taste buds.

If you love the lemonade but cannot handle the bite of the cayenne pepper, than leave it out. You can purchase cayenne in capsule form, so you do not miss the health benefit of this potent pepper. It is available in many grocery stores and most health food stores, so simply find the right dose to substitute and take it with your mild lemonade mixture.

Finally, although it strays from the regular Master Cleanse recipe, try varying the type of juice you use. If you choose citrus juices, such as, grapefruit, orange, lime, mandarin, or any combination of these, you will be fairly close to the original recipe. Even if you really go wild, and choose something like cranberry or pomegranate, you will still be juice fasting. So, if the lemons are giving you a bit of a sour face, then try a different fruit. Just make sure it is all natural, one-hundred percent juice with no added sugar.

Whether you are a fan of the Master Cleanse or not, there is no questioning the popularity of this diet. There is also no questioning that the lemonade recipe can be a bit sour, potent, or spicy for some folks tastes. So sweeten it up, tone it down, or switch it up for a little fun in your Master Cleanse diet.
