Three Angels Children's Relief in Port Au Prince, Haiti

Angel House Orphanage Cares for Haiti's Orphaned Children

Evan Carrier
Over the summer many people have taken trips to various destinations all across the globe. Some go to Hawaii for a luscious retreat in a tropical setting; others go to the city down the interstate just to get away from an otherwise hectic life, yet some people take a trip to a poor, third world country in order to help ease the pain from the everyday tortures of living off the street. One organization in particular is called Three Angels. Their mission is to help care for the orphans in the most impoverished area of Haiti by providing a loving shelter (Angel House Orphanage), provide them with food, and also develop their minds through educational programs.

The Three Angels organization is based primarily in Haiti itself but there are also many contacts for the organization here in the United States, which means that citizens are able to travel to Haiti, with prior arrangements, to either volunteer their time or to even adopt a child. Many people have already adopted children from Angel House Orphanage and have brought them into the states in order to provide them with the best possible care. One place in particular where the majority of the orphans are going is Evansville, Indiana. In recent months, many adoptive families have traveled to Haiti in order to spend time with the children as well as make arrangements for their future adoption. At the moment, many of the children currently at the orphanage (as of August 26, 2007) are on hold for their adoptive families. Bear in mind that Three Angels Children's Relief is not an adoption agency, but the children at Angel House are up for independent adoption.

As far as volunteer work, anyone is welcome to visit the site and contact the organization for more information as well as the correct forms and documents needed before being able to travel to Haiti. This is an excellent opportunity for many college and high school students to take a different perspective on life and discover what a difference they can make in the lives of others. Just keep in mind that one person alone cannot change the whole world in one day, but they can change the life of a child in just an hour

However, like every organization, Three Angels cannot operate on willpower alone. That is why they have set up a website where anyone can find out more information about the organization as well as information on Haiti, how people can help out physically, and how people can securely send donations. If you find it in your heart to help out, in any way possible, please visit the site and either send a donation or contact someone to find out more information on how you can help.
