Three Best Outdoor Parks to Exercise that Are Found Near Victoria, BC
Three Suggestions of Amazing Regional Parks and Trails to Walk, Jog, Hike, Cycle, and Swim At
Thetis Lake Regional Park
This regional conservation area was established as Canada's first nature sanctuary in 1958. The park offers outdoor exercise in a natural settings. While doing various forms of exercising, such as walking, jogging, and biking, you will notice swamps, grand lakes waiting for you to swim in it, delicate spring wildflowers, douglas-fir forests, beaches, and picnic areas for you to take a break at and have a drink. The trails rate from moderate to challenging. For a hike, go on the scenic trails hugging Upper and Lower Thetis lake. For a more challenging hike, go on trails up Seymour or Scafe hills that provide panoramic views of the lakes and surrounding hills. If you have a pet, please make sure to keep the pets on trail, so we can continue to protect this sensitive habitat. For directions, follow the Trans-Canada Highway from Victoria, and take the Colwood exit. Follow the Old Island Highway. Turn right on Six Mile Road, which leads to the park entrance. It will take about only twenty minutes drive from Victoria to this beautiful park.

The Galloping Goose Regional Trail
This trail, which I have rode a bike on numerous occasions, passes over several creeks on its journey from Victoria to Sooke. This gorgeous trail, which is often used for walking, jogging, and cycling, moves through urban, rural and wilderness scenery up to 55 km. In addition, you are even welcome to run a horse through the rural sections! Dogs are welcome as well, but keep them on leashes, and pick up their droppings. While exploring this trial, you will notice a quiet cove, a hidden lake, rocky outcrops, marshland, canyon land, skunk cabbage swampland, tall Douglas-fir forest, Garry oak and arbutus forest, rural farmland and waterways. To arrive at the trail, start at the corner of Wharf Street and Pandora Avenue. Cross the Johnson Street bridge, and then turn right on the paved path that connects Harbour Road and the trail.

Sooke Potholes Regional Park
This breath-taking regional park is located on the banks of the spectacular Sooke River. This park is perfect for hiking, swimming, and also has access to the Galloping Goose Regional Trail. This could be a wonderful place to take a break from your long journey from Victoria to Sooke through the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, The Sooke Potholes has one of the cleanest and freshest water I have ever swam in, and wonderful rock structures to sit on and have a yummy picnic. While hiking and exploring the short forest trails, you may notice black-tailed deer, red squirrels, or bald eagles. The Sooke River is an area of steep cliffs and deep fast-moving water, please use caution and wear appropriate footwear. Your dogs are welcome, but keep them under control and make sure to pick up your dog's droppings. Also if you carry anything that could later on become trash, do not litter, keep it on you until you reach a garbage bin. Please note that drinking water is not available, so please bring a bottle with you. To reach the Sooke Potholes Regional Park, follow the Trans-Canada Highway from Victoria, and take the Millstream Road exit (Exit 14) to Sooke. Follow Veterans Memorial Parkway, then turn right on Sooke Road. Turn right on Sooke River Road and follow the signs. Allow approximately 45 minutes driving time from Victoria.
