Three Christmas Breakfast Ideas that Are Too Good to Wrap Up

Eat One of These After Opening the Presents

Tim Searles
Christmas morning - the time when most families come together under the Christmas tree and exchange presents. Everyone says their thank you and officially another wait has ended. What do you do afterwards? You have breakfast. Christmas Day is usually one of those times in the year when a family has a full breakfast. There's no school, no work (for most of us), and everyone has just gotten gifts. People are usually in a great mood for breakfast on Christmas Day. Here are some breakfast ideas to keep the excitement going throughout the day:

Christmas Breakfast Idea #1 - An omelet wrapped in turkey bacon with a glass of eggnog

Create your omelet the way you normally do, except wrap turkey bacon around it as if it were a Christmas present. Recommended fixing for the omelet would be cheese, tomato, mushroom, green onion, salt and pepper. Staying in the same theme of the Christmas holiday add a glass of eggnog for good measure.

Christmas Breakfast Idea #2 - Strawberry pancakes with maple syrup and breakfast sausage cut in quarters across the top

Make buttermilk pancakes the way you normally might, except add a strawberry puree to the batter before placing pancakes on the griddle. To make the strawberry puree - cut up a handful of strawberries and add one cup of sugar to a medium sized pot. You may need to add ½ cup of water so that nothing sticks and so that the sugar doesn't burn. Once the sugar has dissolved, place strawberry mixture into a food processor and puree until you have what looks like strawberry preserves. This mixture is what you'll add to your pancake batter to create strawberry pancakes this Christmas.

To add to the decoration cook about two or three sausage patties and cut into quarters. Place quarters on top of the stack of pancakes to create the idea of gift wrapping, or along the side to create the idea of ornaments like you would for a Christmas tree.

Christmas Breakfast Idea #3 - Kiwi and watermelon slices with French vanilla yogurt topped with granola

For those who want a healthier alternative for their Christmas breakfast, I'm staying in the red and green theme here. Fresh sliced kiwi and watermelon will give you the fiber you need. The yogurt and granola will give you a sweet crunch for added flavor. I recommend this if you want something filling that isn't bread-based or meat-based.
