Three Projects to Transition Your Home from Summer to Autumn

It is hard to believe that summer is almost over and autumn is approaching. These three craft decor projects will help you to transition your home from summer to autumn. I love the versatility of these autumn craft projects because the supplies can be substituted to compliment any season or holiday. I make a set of these three craft projects for each season. Once a certain season is over, I carefully pack and store that season and unpack the next season of craft items to be placed throughout my house. I also have included some fun and easy decorating tips that will give your house a beautiful autumn look.

Fall Picture Frames
Supplies:

• Inexpensive wood frames
• Glue gun and glue sticks
• Fall embellishments

Directions:

1. Lay frames flat on a covered work area.
2. Glue fall embellishments around each frame.

I place my favorite pictures in the fall frames. Then I place these pictures on my walls, end tables and bookcases. It gives my home of a warm, autumn feel.

Autumn Floral Wall Baskets
Supplies:

• Wall baskets
• Glue gun and glue sticks
• Silk fall leaves
• German statice
• Dried floral filler in fall colors
• Floral foam
• Autumn bow
• Scissors
• Moss

Directions:

1. Glue a piece of floral foam inside the basket. Glue moss on top of the foam.
2. Place a piece of statice in the foam so that it over extends the sides about three inches, then place another piece at the top, center in the height you want your arrangement.
3. Fill in the statice by using the first pieces of statice as your guide for the shape until you get a full arrangement, and it is the size you desire.
4. Glue the autumn bow to the center, front of the arrangement.
5. Evenly glue autumn leaves and florals throughout the arrangement.

Make several autumn baskets and place them on your front door, walls and throughout your home. I also love to make several of these baskets and hang them cascading down my stairway in my front hall. It is a warm and cozy way to welcome my guests.

Mirror Candle Fall Centerpiece
Supplies:

• Fall-colored candle
• Inexpensive mirrors
• Mini faux autumn pumpkins, berries and leaves

Directions:

1. Lay a mirror flat with the glass side up.
2. Place a candle in the center of the mirror.
3. Place autumn embellishments around the candle.

I place a fall mirror centerpiece in my entryway, on my dining room table and coffee tables. Another fun and free idea is to use fall embellishments from the outdoors. I take a basket outside to gather fall leaves, pine cones and twigs. I place these items around my fall candle. The reflection of the fall colors from the mirror adds to the beauty of this home decor arrangement.

Home Decor Fall Decorating Tips

1. Place fall-colored candles throughout your home.
2. Wrap an autumn string of berries around banisters, and across your fireplace mantle.
3. Replace doilies, tablecloths and placemats with ones that have a fall theme or autumn colors.
4. Gather autumn items from outside and place them in baskets. Place these baskets throughout your home.
5. Place bowls of autumn colored potpourri throughout your home. I also like to choose scents reminiscent of autumn.
6. Place autumn-colored pillows on couches, beds, chairs and window seats.
