While some of these BV remedies will last long term as cures, bacterial vaginosis can reoccur in some women. Here is a list of three cures and remedies for bacterial vaginosis you can use to treat BV. It is recommended that you speak with your health care provider first, especially if you are pregnant and have bacterial vaginosis.
Hydrogen peroxide douche to cure bacterial vaginosis. Douching is not recommended for women, however a homemade douche can provide much needed, safer relief to cure BV symptoms. You can make a douche of 50 percent hydrogen peroxide and 50 percent water. Purchase an empty douche applicator, either disposable or reusable. Fill the applicator with equal parts water and hydrogen peroxide and use it to flush out your vaginal canal and balance your pH levels. Do this once a day until the BV symptoms go away.
Probiotic Vitamins and Supplements. A woman's body needs a health balance of bacteria in her body for her vaginal system to thrive. Probiotic vitamins and supplements can help restore the pH balance by providing vital strands of Lactobacillus including Lactobacillus GR-1 and Lactobacillus RC-14. Probiotics can be taken in vitamin capsule or tablet form or drunk as a supplement via powder to prevent BV. Pregnant women prone to bacterial vaginosis should regularly take probiotics to maintain a health system and prevent preterm labor that can occur with a bacterial vaginosis infection. You can also increase your intake of probiotics through foods such as yogurt with live cultures, some juices and milk.
Boric Acid Suppositories to cure bacterial vaginosis. The next item on the list of cures for bacterial vaginosis is boric acid suppositories. You can have your doctor order boric acid suppositories through a prescription from the pharmacy. You can also make your own boric acid suppositories as a homemade, natural remedy and cure. Take a 00 sized gel cap and fill it with 500 mg of boric acid. Insert a gel cap into the vaginal canal to fight off the infection. Wear a pantyliner to absorb any discharge. Some women report immediate relief from BV, while others repeat the treatment until the BV is gone. The gel cap with boric acid should dissolve from the warmth of vaginal canal. Do not be alarmed if the capsule or some of the residue from the boric acid discharges.
