Make your own stained-glass window Christmas craft. For this glowing decoration, you will need a few household items including a pencil, tracing paper, a ruler, a black crayon, watercolors and paintbrush, foam tray, and water.
Choose a Christmas-themed design, such as a snowman, star, Christmas tree, candy cane, or reindeer. Draw your design on a piece of tracing paper. Divide your design and the background into small, odd-shaped spaces. Make straight lines with your ruler. Mix your watercolors on the plastic foam tray. Use different shades of paint and play with mixing colors. Your watercolors should be watery, rather than thick, for better effect. Section off your design & paint with different shades. Keep the paint inside the black crayon lines. Paint the background with other colors and allow the paint to dry.
Hang up in a bright window to see a true Holiday glow!
Use an old tube sock to make a sock snowman! Gather some cotton balls, old white socks, scissors, white yarn or string, white glue, small buttons, ruler, orange pipe cleaners, and cloth scraps (Christmas fabrics or reds/greens).
Put cotton balls into the sock and pack tightly. Tie off three sections of the sock with your yarn or string. Use small buttons for the eyes and mouth. Place 3 buttons down the front of the body. Cut a 1 inch piece of orange pipe cleaner for the nose. Cut a tiny opening below the snowman's eyes to place the pipe cleaner nose and hold it in place until the glue dries. Make a scarf for your sock snowman with some Christmas fabric (plaids) or solid reds and greens and tie it around the snowman's neck. Cut a wide triangle from the cloth and glue the ends together to make a hat.
Now you have sock snowman with a jolly, happy soul.
Fuzzy Candy Canes for your Christmas tree are cute and easy to make. They are great as tree decorations as well.
You will need red and white pipe cleaners, a plastic foam tray or newspaper, glue, scissors, and ribbon. First, glue two red pipe cleaners together and hold them together until the glue is dry. Use the foam tray or newspaper to hold any excess glue. Make stripes for your fuzzy candy canes by winding a white pipe cleaner down the length of the red ones. Use scissors to cut the ends of the pipe cleaners to the same lengths. Curve the top of the pipe cleaners into a U-shape. Tie a bow around the candy cane with red or white ribbon!
Your kids will love making these decorations and giving them away as gifts this Holiday season.
