Lose Weight by Eating MORE!

Losing weight is something that takes time, energy, and know-how. Even if you are thin, it is important that you eat healthy. The most important meal of the day is breakfast. So many people are too busy, not hungry, and some people just never got in the habit of having breakfast every day. To get healthy and maintain the level of health that is good for you, it is imperative that breakfast is a part of your day, every day.

Breakfast shakes, weight loss shakes, protein shakes, donuts, pastries (yes, even toaster ones), coffee...none of these items are breakfast. They may make you feel full or give you a jolt of energy, but a healthy breakfast they are not. If you think you do not have time for a healthy breakfast, think again. There are many healthy and fast breakfast meals out there for you to consider.

Hard boiled eggs are ideal for those on the run and in a rush. Make them ahead of time and pop them in the fridge, and you have breakfast ready to go. All you have to do is peel your egg, add a slice of fruit (I like grapes or strawberries with my hardboiled egg) and you have a breakfast. That took about two minutes and you can eat this meal anywhere.

Oatmeal is another quick favorite. Not the individual packages that are loaded with sugar and sodium. I am talking about the oatmeal that cooks the old fashioned way, with boiling water on the stove. If you really do not have time for that, buy the quick oats at the store and pop half a cup of oats mixed with a cup of water into the microwave and there you have it. I add frozen blueberries, about ¼ of a cup, before I cook the oats. They add anti-oxidants and vitamins to your breakfast. To sweeten your meal, add a teaspoon of honey.

Cold cereal is another alternative for your morning meal. However, it is important that you choose wisely. Look for cereals that contain little fat, low calories, and a high amount of fiber and vitamins. Measure out your cereal. Use ¾ of a cup of cereal and ¼ of a cup of 1% or skim milk. Remember to add fruit; bananas go great with cold cereal.

Another important part of your morning meal that too many of us forget about is water. We all need water, every day. Eight glasses of water is the minimum that we should drink to keep our bodies hydrated and in working condition. Some people do not drink ONE glass of water, let alone eight. Along with your coffee or tea, add a large glass of water to your breakfast every day. When you leave the house for the day, bring a bottle of water with you along with some convenient vegetable slices. Cucumbers, carrots, and radishes are among my favorites.

Remember that breakfast gives us a jumpstart for the day and increases our metabolism as well. With all of the benefits and three simple and quick solutions, there is no reason to skip this daily meal.
