Kids can help create their own go green prom themes with a little help. Here are there fun ideas for creating and carrying out an eco friendly prom theme.
Eco Friendly Prom Themes #1: Create a Car Pool for Prom
Carpooling to prom is an awesome way to start off and carry out a go green prom theme. Have fun with this one. In place of renting a gas guzzling bus, why not everyone car pool in a group on their bikes?
Throw some jeans on under that prom dress and bike to prom in large groups. You can contact your local police department and discuss options they may offer for escorting your senior class in a group prom bike ride. This would be just like the police escorts you see at the start ad tail end of professional bike tours and races.
Eco Friendly Prom Themes #2: The Location
Choosing the location of your prom can be a huge deciding factor in how eco friendly your prom is. You can spend all that time creating a green theme for prom, but if the building required heavy AC to keep it cool there is nothing eco friendly about it.
Look for prom venues that have well ventilated spaces - windows! This will add a great look to the prom as well. Just imagine the fresh breeze rolling through the room in place of the stale air conditioned air.
Keep in mind the lighting of the building as well Are there any buildings in your city that have already switched out to eco friendly light bulbs, updated cooling systems, or are converting to a more eco friendly operation?
This is popular trend in major cities, so be on the lookout for green buildings that are capable of hosting major events.
Eco Friendly Prom Themes #3: The Food
Finally, the food. Most proms have tables of food or drinks, so changing this out to an eco friendly opportunity is an easy one. In place of the disposable cups, why not have real dishes. To carry this idea out in an eco friendly manner you will need a prom committee group to volunteer to wash these afterwards. Thing of the room you will save in the local land fill!
Serve room temperature foods. So may finger foods can be served at room temperature. Try serving these to keep your prom from wasting electricity, running burners, and generally using up resources to heat up chicken fingers.
