Admitting that you have a drug or alcohol problem is tough enough, but finding a rehab center that is helpful and unbiased can be equally as hard. Fortunately for residents of the seacoast, there are a number of excellent facilities that can help you or someone you know overcome their addiction.

First, the Southeastern New Hampshire Services, located in Portsmouth focuses on substance abuse treatment programs, aimed at helping addicts mired in server addiction. A welcoming building helps make it easier for patients feel comfortable admitting themselves. The staff at the southeastern center is mostly composed of reformed addicts with real world experience, so finding someone that has been through similar situations is not hard. There is group counseling available, as well as individual. There are also meetings available for alcoholics anonymous and similar ones for different drug addicts. A very helpful and warm place to help you overcome an addiction. They offer outpatient care, and require self-payment.

A second place available is the Odyssey Adolescent therapeutic center in Hampton. A center whose focus is primarily on teens and their problems, the Odyssey also has programs available that are designed at helping teens overcome mental problems as well. Another feature is the long-term residence which allows the rehabbing member to stay longer than 30 days if their problem is deep rooted and needs more treatment. The staff is caring and skilled, and many also have real world experience that provides a base for their counseling and treatment. For those that stay over, there are meals available, as well as activities aimed at helping to build relationships and recover themselves. There are a number of payment methods, including self-payment, Medicaid, private health insurance, and military insurance.

A third and final place available is the Merrimack River Medical Associates Methadone Clinic located in Somersworth. A center that is focused mostly on the treatment of heroin addicts, the Merrimack clinic offers literature, classes, and counseling to help addicts beat heroin addiction. They also provide detoxification, methadone maintenance, and methadone detoxification. The Merrimack clinic is one of the only available places that distributes and deals with methadone addiction. In addition to the treatment of heroin related addictions, the Merrimack clinic also has programs focused on pregnant and post-partum women, and programs for women specifically.
