The Alpenrose Egg Hunt at Alpenrose Dairy has been a family favorite for forty-six years, so you know you are in for a traditional treat with this one. This event is for ages three to eight year olds, and features egg hunts for seven different age brackets. One lucky hunter in each group will win a six foot Easter bunny. There is also a special diamond hunt for the Moms. Drink your coffee ladies, because the grand prize for the Mom hunt is even better than a Cadbury cream egg. Ages three to five are scheduled for 10:30AM, Moms at 11:30AM, and ages six to eight at 12:30PM, but be sure to arrive early for this popular event. For all of the information and to check for updates go to the Alpenrose Dairy website at www.alpenrose.com.
If you are looking for a bountiful egg hunt for kids in a beautiful setting then head on over to the Oregon Garden. This hunt takes place on Saturday April 11 so it leaves Easter morning for other activities. Age groups from zero to three, four to six, and seven to ten will have hunts every hour between 11AM and 2PM. This event does cost (adults $8, seniors $7, students $6 with kids seven and under free) and space is limited so call ahead. Contact information can found at www.oregongarden.org in the News and Events section. Make a day of it and enjoy the beautiful Oregon Garden in April . . . and take home a few goodies, too.
A third option is the ever popular Rabbit Romp at the Oregon Zoo. Rabbit Romp takes place Saturday April 11th from 9am to 3pm. Rabbit Romp is free with zoo admission, so get your money's worth and spend the day at the zoo. There will be candy egg hunts every twenty minutes for children ages two through ten. Other activities are planned for Rabbit Romp and the schedule will be updated throughout March, so check out the website at www.oregonzoo.org/Events/rabbitromp.htm .
Whether you are looking for bunnies, eggs, or a happy family outing Portland, Oregon has what you're looking for. Whichever hunt you choose, be sure to arrive early, watch the weather (and dress appropriately), bring a basket for your bounty, and check the websites to make sure there are no last minute changes. Have a safe and hoppy Easter!
