Three Florida Keys No-Snow Winter Vacation Destinations

Eric Brennan
If you're looking for a warm winter vacation destination, look no further than the Florida Keys. The Florida Keys are home to some of the warmest winter destinations in the United States. Tropical paradise awaits you at one of these three top winter destinations in the Florida Keys.

Long Key

A favorite among many travelers to the Florida Keys, Long Key is home to Long Key State Park. This secluded campground offers beachfront campsites and easy access to the more popular keys, Marathon to the south and Islamorada to the north. Reefs to the north and south are easily accessed from the island. Several area motels and hotels are available on the island that aren't as packed as the more popular islands and offer visitors a more secluded winter vacation adventure.

Fishing enthusiasts will love Long Key. Bonefish, a tough game fish, are said to be caught here more than anywhere else in the Florida Keys. There are several marinas and fishing charters on the island for all of your fishing needs.

Grassy Key

This small and peaceful Florida Key island is located just a few minutes from Marathon, one of the most populated and popular keys that hosts one of the few airports in the area. The dolphin research center is located on the island and offers visitors a chance to swim with the dolphins in their natural environment. Admission to this fantastic family fun adventure is just $12.50 for adults and $7.50 for kids aged four to twelve.

Get in a round of golf at one of the Florida Keys top golf courses. Key Colony Beach golf course is a challenging par three course that will let you get your exercise-it's pull cart and walkthrough only.

Little Torch Key

This tiny island got its namesake from the torchwood trees that can be found across the island. Just south of Big Pine Key, it is an easy drive to the famous Key West, less than 25 miles away. This Florida Key is especially popular with snorkelers and divers who visit the nearby Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. The reef is named after the H.M.S. Looe which sank on the reef in 1744 and its remains can still be seen today. Looe Reef is considered by many to be the best reef dive in the Florida Keys.

Several dive shops on nearby Big Pine Key offer tours of this fantastic underwater spectacle. With warm Caribbean waters flowing year round, winter dives are especially popular.
