If you want to stay in shape you better know what you are eating. So many people are eating foods that contain things that are not good for them and they don't even know it. Ultimately, your health is determined by the nutrients that go through your body, and your bloodstream. Here are three nutrients that will be enemies to your nutritional goals. Avoid them as much as possible and you will find success.

Trans Fat- Trans fat is responsible for lots of damage that's done to your health plans. Some fats are good, Trans fat is certainly not one of them. High levels of trans fat has been linked to a number of health problems including diabetes, heart disease and immune system problems. It will increase the amount of bad cholesterol that's in your body. Trans fat is a combination of lots of different elements created by humans. Vegetable oil is combined hydrogen to make a solid such as margarine. Because it is cheap, it has been used by many in the restaurant and food business. The government now requires companies to list their trans fat but the battle against this enemy is far from over. Here are a few tips to help you limit your intake of trans fat:

Check labels. The more hydrogenated ingredients you see the more trans fat that is present.

Eat baked chips.

Use a napkin to absorb excess grease from fried foods.

High-Fructose Corn Syrup- High Fructose Corn Syrup(HFCS) is one of the worst things you can put in your body. Unfortunately Americans consume a lot of it each year. It's added to a number of common foods because it is cheaper and sweeter than simple sugar. It is anything but good for your body however. It messes with your metabolism. Foods with HFCS leave you still hungry. You usually want more sweets and eat more foods with HFCS in them. Some of the foods high in Fructose include soda, popular candy, sweet cereals and even pancake syrup. Look for replacements for this food if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Saturated Fat- The danger of saturated fat is that it stays in your body. Your body basically holds on to this type of fat until it really needs it. While it's in your body however it is putting you at risk for heart disease and cancer. Saturated fats are found mostly in dairy products and meats. If you are going to eat such food, and you should eat some, look for lean cuts of meat and low-fat dairy products.

Avoid these nutrients and you will be well on your way to having a healthy life.
