Three Fun, Easy and Cheap Crafts Anybody Can Do

j3nny3lf
Here I am again with three more enjoyable and affordable craft ideas for you to try with your kids this summer! As any parent knows, keeping the kids busy during this time of year can be a real chore, but each of these simple craft projects will help to alleviate their summer boredom.. and yours, too!

A Simple No-Sew Bandanna Purse

Materials:

Two 22"-24" bandannas in your favorite color (or colors!)
A pair of scissors
Hot glue gun (optional)

Cut the outer one inch off of each bandanna, in one continuous strip. Set aside.

Lay the two bandannas evenly on top of each other. Cut fringe strips about 3/4 of an inch wide and two and a half inches long up from the bottom and in from the sides of the bandannas. Do not cut the tops. Cut off the corner "tags" that result from making these fringes.

Beginning from one upper corner, knot the top and bottom fringes of each bandanna together. Work your way around.

Now take the borders you cut off earlier and cut each one in half, giving you four shorter strips of equal length. Set one aside. Braid three of them together and knot at the upper corners of your knotted purse.

If you like, fashion the last strip into a bow and hot glue to the front of your purse.

Cute and sassy, what's not to like?

Potpourri sachets

Materials:

Organza drawstring bags from the craft store
Your favorite potpourri blend
Waxed paper
Silk flower
Hot glue gun

Slip a piece of waxed paper inside the organza bag, then hot glue a silk flower to the front of the bag. Fill the bag with potpourri, being careful not to stuff it so tightly it won't close! Double knot the drawstrings of the bag.

Scrabble tile pins

Materials:

Card stock
Scrabble tiles from an old Scrabble set (I buy old Scrabble games at the Goodwill for $1-$2 each!)
Hot glue gun
Dried leaves, seeds, silk flowers, ribbons, etc
A pin back

Decide what word you want to make. For example, you could choose LOVE as the word. Lay your tiles out in a pleasing array, either straight across or in a square:

LO
VE

Hot glue the tiles to the card stock so that there are no gaps between them, then trim the excess cardboard away. Hot glue thin ribbon around the edges and add any other little decorative items such as small silk or dried flowers. Make sure you glue the flowers so that they are coming up from the back of the pin, so the letters can be read.
