Three Fun Kids Crafts for Labor Day and American Patriotic Holidays
Childrens Craft Projects for Home or School
Patriotic Rock
Find a smooth rock large enough to paint on. Wash the rock and pat dry. When the rock is thoroughly dry use a pencil to draw a star or an American Flag or a peace sign. Using red , white and blue paint, paint the rock and let dry on newspaper. Once the rock is dry it can be optionally varnished for added shine.
American Star Garland
You'll need white string or red, white or blue yarn for the the string to hold the garland of stars in this kids craft. You will also need thick paper such as poster board or cardstock or construction paper. Limit the colors of the paper to shades of blue, and red and white. Silver or Gold would work as complimentary colors, but stick to the red white and blue overall theme color. Take a pencil and draw a star shape for a pattern. Repeat the process and cut out the stars. The stars can be left plain or they can be decorated with red white and blue or silver and gold star stickers. (you can get a pack of star stickers for about the price of a buck if you don't already have them). Use a hole puncher to punch a hole at the top of each star so they can be added to the string or yarn. Tie a know before and after each star is placed to hold them in position. Alternatively, if you don't want to tie knots, you can simply use the tip of each star slightly folded over the string or yarn and tape or staple or glue into place. Be sure to keep the string longer than the amount of stars used so there is room to hang it. The star garland can be used to decorate a door or deck rail or stair balcony.
Eagle or Soldier Collage
All you need is a thick piece of paper such as cardstock or poster board as the base of this craft. Find magazine pictures of American soldiers or American Eagles and using a glue stick glue the pictures arranged how child desires. The blank spaces can be filled in with drawings or stickers of American flags, red white and blue stars and words from magzines such as Labor Day or America or USA or Patriotic, or Goid Bless America, etc.
Have fun with these American kids crafts!
