Three Fun San Diego Festivals

Looking for the best and most fun San Diego festivals? San Diego festivals are plentiful with everything from festivals celebrating avocados to celebrations devoted to iconic cars from the past. Each year, San Diego hosts dozens of fun festivals. Here are three all-time favorites.

Three of San Diego's best festivals are:

1. Balboa Park's Earth Fair. While many San Diego festivals take place in city streets, this Earth Fair takes place in the gorgeous setting of Balboa Park. To say that this is a huge event is an understatement. In fact, this event is billed as the world's largest environmental fair. The Earth Fair may be free but it can also lead to traffic jams because of the large crowds. Because of the crowds and limited parking, free shuttle buses are usually provided departing from lots throughout the city. You may also want to take the bus. This event celebrates Earth Day in April with over 350 exhibitors, live entertainment, and activities.

2. Hillcrest CityFest. This free annual event is one of San Diego's largest street festivals. It takes place in early August each year in the streets of Hillcrest. When you attend this fun festival, you can expect free entertainment, loads of activities, carnival games, and terrific people watching. Hillcrest is a vibrant urban community in San Diego where alternative lifestyles are embraced.

3. Fall Back Festival. Fall back into time when San Diego turns its clocks back in autumn when Daylight Savings Time officially ends. Each year, the Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego hosts this fun festival in front of the William Heath Davis Historic House Museum. The shops, restaurants, museums, and other attractions in the Gaslamp Quarter revert to the 1880s on this day. Free activities, live entertainment, and revelers in period attire fill the streets. This is an intimate, yet thoroughly fun, San Diego festival.

Balboa Park's Earth Fair, Hillcrest's CityFest, and the Gaslamp Quarter's Fall Back Festival are each fun, free San Diego festivals with unique vibes in gorgeous settings.
