Three Great Children's Museums

The Explorium is located in downtown Lexington, KY. You can let your children run wild in this museum. It's completely hands-on. It's a great place to let children explore and learn while you simply observe. They have a Bubble Room, a Block Room, and several other hands on exhibits for children of all ages, including infants. There is a place designated for infants to roll around freely while you watch your older children play in the water area or dress up area. There are computers located throughout the museum that are designated for enhanced learning about a particular subject. The art room is supplied with mixed art media to allow children to create their very own work of art. If you are in the Lexington area, you should definitely check it out.

Science City is located inside of Union Station, an old train station in the heart of Kansas City. Union Station is a gorgeous, gargantuan piece of architecture. Science City is located in one wing of the station. When you walk into the wing, your eyes are met with a large simulation of a city. This fantasyland is any kid's dream. The city features two stories of hands on activities ranging from mysterious musical instruments to a bike on a high wire. Children are allowed to explore the city with full hands on experience. The Mystery Hotel is made up of optical illusions that tap into everyone's imagination. On The Dig Site, children are able to learn about how archeologist search for fossils. The toddler room allows toddlers to learn at their developmental stage. They enhance their small and large motor skills while learning to build, using diverse materials. Science City is the perfect place to take your child to have fun while learning.

The Chicago Children's Museum
Chicago, IL

The Children's Museum is conveniently located in front of The Navy Pier. This museum features several different types of rooms that allow children to learn through sensori-motor stimulation. They cater to children of all ages including infants. The rooms are all equipped with hands-on learning tools. There is a room that allows children to build safely by using nuts, bolts, and porous boards. Children can choose to explore rooms that are designed to teach children about the great outdoors or about household safety. This place gets super crowded, so stay close to your child.

The Explorium

The Explorium is located in downtown Lexington, KY. You can let your children run wild in this museum. It's completely hands-on. It's a great place to let children explore and learn while you simply observe. There are a variety of exhibits you will explore at the Explorium.

The Brainzilla exhibit is all about the human brain. Your child can learn about the inter-workings of the brain through their brain activities.

Wonder Woods is a Kentucky-based nature area for toddlers to explore the great outdoors.

Hold Your Horses is all about the Horse. Children can learn about horses and the history behind the Kentucky Derby.

The Homes Around the World exhibit displays examples of living situations from around the world, such as Native American dwellings.

The Fuller Projection Map is the most accurate, proportional map of the world. The Dinosaurs as Natural Wonders area features Tyrannosaurus Rex and Triceratops skulls.

The Doctor Kid's Clinic is where kids get to be the doctors, and learn about the anatomy while playing.

Keeping Current is a natural history exhibit focused on the Kentucky River as the state's first highway with 27' of running water.

The Sun Wise Oasis illustrates the sun-smart behaviors.

The Bubble Zone is a fun, interactive world of surface tension and fluid dynamics. It includes an interactive exhibit that encompasses your body in 360 degrees of bubble.
