Three Great Weekend Escapes - Sea Isle City, New Jersey

I grew up going to Sea Isle City, NJ every summer. It was a huge part of my life. When I hear the words "down the shore" it's Sea Isle I'm picturing in my head. Sea Isle has a lot more to it though, than what I saw as a child. As an adult there is so much to see and do. If you like crowds, than go with the summer escape, but if you're into a peaceful escape needed now, this is definitely the place to go.

Think Friendly. I called Landis Reality to ask about rentals and they were fantastic. If I were to book a place in Sea Isle it would be with them, to me their name is synonymous to Sea Isle. Of course rates vary a great deal depending on what and where you want, so I recommend visiting their site by clicking their name. On the tourist website, the Mayor Leonard C. Desiderio, provides his email in case you have any questions. He can be reached at: mayorlen@seaislecitynj.us

What To Do in Sea Isle City, NJ In The Spring

If you like fishing, There's the Annual Karl J. Boehret Surf Fishing Tournament, which is held May 15, 2010. This is both a team and an individual tournament and cost is $50.00 a team and $8.00 a person. The times are as follows:

Registration 5:30 AM to 7:00 AM
First Fishing Position 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM
Second Fishing Position 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM

There will be door prizes, lunch and of course, awards held at 1:00 PM at the Sea Isle City Recreation Center on 42nd Street Place. Awards will be given to the youth who catches the most fish either as an individual or as a team, and the woman angler that catches the largest fish. It is fun whether you win or not though, a great day. Last year my son just missed, he was in second place. For any questions regarding this event or for directions, the contact info is as follows:

Then there's the 12th Annual Ocean Drive Marathon, which is held 3/28/2010 9:00 AM - 2:30 PM. For registration fee please call 609-523-0880. There's also the Strathmere Ensemble Concert, and a skate jam. There's also plenty of nightlife and restaurants, or even just a walk on the pier if you want. I understand these aren't all in the same weekend, but that's the point. If you're visiting Sea Isle City, NJ for a weekend escape, no matter what month it is, you'll have a blast.

Three Great Weekend Escapes - The Poconos

The Poconos is a beautiful place to visit. The scenery is amazing , and talk about escape. If you live in a crowded area such as myself, even as you're getting closer to the Poconos, you already start to feel the escape just because of the wonderful openness! Land actually left untouched, amazing. I realize most people put the Poconos and skiing together, but there's a lot more to do, so don't feel you've missed out on the Poconos weekend escape now that it is spring.

The Poconos is about a two hour drive from The Philadelphia area of Pa, New York and Northern New Jersey. There are some mazing packages for all times of the year right here at your fingertips. The cost of this trip varies greatly on whether you choose a package, or choose to just do your own thing. It can be anywhere from $10.00 to $490.00.

For a spring time weekend escape, there is so much available. There's this long list-whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoing, fishing, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, tennis, wine, food and ethnic festivals, shopping and pampering awaits. For a full list, please visit the springtime calendar of events. Or just relax and wander, enjoying the stunning views.

I've been in the winter and spring seasons, and was delighted both seasons. It truly is an escape. When you come home, you feel like a whole new person.

Three Great Weekend Escapes - DelMarVa Peninsula

What an amazing place to be! Where Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia meet, it is called the DelMarVa Peninsula. On this Peninsula is a beautiful place called Assateague . I tried to search my tote of pictures to give a real person's view of this gorgeous place, but couldn't find them, oh well, a commercial picture will do.

Assateague is where the wild horses roam free on the beach and surrounding woods and other areas of water which I can explain as maybe a bay. Besides the horses, there is so much wildlife to be sen here. They are protected, and don't seem to fear human contact. They will even walk right up to your car!

For your weekend escape, of course you could always rent a local hotel, then go see the sights and enjoy all the different programs offered. Why do that though when you can camp right there on the beach? It is actually considered a State Park, this is why the camping there is possible. Camping season is from April 24, 2009 through November 11, 2009. Campsite charge is $30.00 a campsite, add $10.00 if you want electricity. There's fishing, boating, hiking trails, kayak rentals and bike trails. For a listing of events so you can plan your escape while there's other activities that may interest you, please visit 2010 Assateague State Park Special Events. For any more information on this amazing gem contact details are as follows:
