Here are 3 ideas for fun one of a kind Kid's Night Stands on a Budget:
Whimsical Kid's Night Stands #1: Toy Chest
A vintage toy chest or simple wood toy chest is an awesome idea for a child's night stand. It has a great look and provides tons of storage. You can find great toy chests at he local flea market and paint them to match yoru décor.
Tip: To keep the top of the nightstand clear you will want to mount the lamp on the wall. Light sconces and other wall mount lamps can easily be installed don the wall by the electrician. This will keep the top of the night stand open for tons fo books, toys, and of course that glass of water.
Whimsical Kid's Night Stands #2: Mail Boxes
For a fun look you can use 9 mail boxes to cerate the oldest night stand for a kid's bedroom. 9 may seem like quite a few, but think of the storage this will give you and your child.
You want to take three rows of three mail boxes to create a grid of small boxes. You can use new mailboxes form the home improvement store or some found ones from the local flea market
Set out the row of three on the bottom first. You can attach the second row by drilling through the metal where the mailboxes touch. A simple metal cutting drill but will do.
Attach the pieces together using nuts and bolts.
You can also drill this to the wall if you are worried about stability. Top off with a fun piece of butcher block, Plexiglas, or any other hard material cut to size.
Rest on top and drill into place as well! Kids will love this one and they can keep all their small toys inside the small compartments of the mailboxes.
Whimsical Kid's Night Stands #3: Wood Toys
Finally, in the same way you attached the mailboxes together you can use larger wooden toys for a fun nightstand. Specifically a wood dollhouse eyes an awesome option. You can create wood top and screw it tot the top of the dollhouse to attach. The look is fun and perfect for a little girl.
