Three Incredibly Simple Weight Loss Tips You Can Do Today

Chris Gafner
Many people put weight loss at the top of their New Years resolution list, but unfortunately, very few actually lose the amount of weight they are aiming for. Out of the people who actually lose weight, many pack back on the pounds later on with interest.

Why do people fail to lose weight? One of the reasons may be that they try to make really drastic changes to their lifestyle all at once. Change is difficult, especially when that change involves curtailing some of your most cherished habits. It's best to start with small changes to your diet and exercise routine. After a few weeks when those changes have started to become second nature you can continue to make more tweaks to your lifestyle.

The most difficult part of any weight loss program is sticking to it. Here are three very simple weight loss tips that you can do to help you lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle today:

Simple Weight Loss Tip #1: Can the soda

A twelve ounce can of soda contains as much sugar (40 grams or more) as three regular size candy bars. If you want to lose weight you need to look for a beverage that won't throw your blood sugar out of whack. Water and milk are excellent alternatives. Be careful with juices as they can be high in sugar as well. If you need something with a little more flavor, try a low calorie drink like flavored water or G2.

Simple Weight Loss Tip #2: Put late night snacks to bed

Don't eat after 9 p.m. Eating late at night can pack on extra pounds two ways. It means that you won't have long to burn the calories before you go to sleep. It can also raise your blood sugar before you sleep, hampering your hormonal balance that helps the body repair itself.

Simple Weight Loss Tip #3: Make sure your chocolate has a tan

Eating dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate can help you lose weight. Dark chocolate (60% cocoa or more) has a very low glycemic index. That means that the carbohydrates in this form of chocolate are absorbed slower than in milk chocolate. This is great news for chocoholics like me. This keeps your blood sugar at a more stable level which is an important factor in losing weight. As a bonus dark chocolate is also very high in antioxidants (and tasty to boot)!
