There's no doubt that kids love to play with toys while they are in the bathtub. There are a multitude of bath toys on the market that are not only expensive, but are really more complicated than they need to be. Most children are content with a few, simple bath-time toys. Classic toys like a floating boat, rubber duckies and cups for pouring will keep bathing children occupied and content.

Bathtub Floating Boats

Floating boats are a great addition to bath time fun. There are several available, but the best thing to do when picking out a boat is to keep it simple. Complex boats that are too large for the tub won't see as much play time as a simple, six or twelve-inch-long boat. Green Toys makes a boat from 100% recycled plastic that has a pour sport and is easy to clean. This boat also has a vent on the top to help dry out the inside and prevent mildew.

Bathtub Rubber Duckies

No bath time is complete without a few rubber duckies. Rubber duckies come in a variety of styles and sizes. They are available through companies like The Oriental Trading Company, some novelty shops and most department stores. In addition to rubber duckies, children also enjoy playing with toy sharks, octopi and other sea creatures. Try to find rubber or plastic animals that are easy to clean. Discard any that have become mildewed and can't be cleaned, especially if your child is likely to drink the water from a toy.

Free Plastic Containers for Bath Time Fun

Sometimes children have the most fun with bath toys that are the least expensive. Emptied and rinsed shampoo bottles, soap containers and yogurt cups make fantastic bath toys. An assortment of different sizes and shapes make plastic containers ideal filling and pouring vessels at bath time. The best part is that they are free and they can be recycled when they start to grow mildew. Simply replace with new, reusable containers!

Bath toys don't have to expensive to be fun. Look for well-made classic toys, like floating boats and rubber duckies and supply a child with several, reusable plastic containers for lots of bath time variety.
