Haunted Locale #1: The Olde Pink House (Savannah, GA)
It's no secret that Savannah, GA is a hotbed of activity where the paranormal is concerned. The area's rich history dictates the possibility that plenty of restless spirits exist. At The Olde Pink House, a historic manse-turned-restaurant, just about every employee claims to have seen the ghost of James Habersham Jr., the mansion's original owner. Even scarier, one patron claims to have seen a man dressed in Revolutionary attire, sitting at the end of the bar. The man looked solid, like any human being. He tipped his hat and smiled. When the customer turned to the bartender to comment on the "costumed employee", the man had vanished.
Haunted Locale #2: The Masquerade Nightclub (Atlanta, GA)
One of the city's oldest standing nightclubs, The Masquerade, has been known to harbor more than a few strange occurrences. A former mill, legend has it that many unusual tragic accidents took place there. Years later employees of the club have claimed to see the ghost of a tall black man walking around backstage. Additionally, on the steps leading to Heaven (the upper level of the club) people claim to have heard footsteps, heard screams, and felt "odd" sensations.
Haunted Locale #3: Anthony's Restaurant (Buckhead/Atlanta, GA)
If you drive too quickly, you might pass it. Anthony's Restaurant is located in an old mansion which sits off of Piedmont Road in Buckhead. From the busy streets you will only see the front gates. But pass through, and you'll be transported to another time. The house was actually built in Washington, GA in 1797, and was then later moved to the Buckhead location.
The legend has it that the original owner named Annabelle still roams the restaurant. Employees have revealed sightings of her in various areas of the property. Other guests have felt taps or felt a presence nearby. In fact, this infamous restaurant has had so much activity that the "ghosts" were featured in a news story on CBS Channel 46.
Honorable Mentions...
There are a few other locations that I'm fairly certain, are haunted. One is an old house which sits off of Roosevelt Highway in College Park, GA, across the street from a fire station. The old mansion was turned into a restaurant. And on many evenings after the restaurant has closed, some of the firefighters mentioned having seen lights in some of the windows. But no one was inside.
There is another area off of Cascade Road in Atlanta, just outside of I-285. There was a house (which has since been torn down) that many in the area claimed was haunted. The house had been sitting unoccupied for years, and was set far back from the road on a large hill. I can recall, prior to having heard the stories of its haunting-passing by the place and feeling immediately chilled. Yet somehow, I felt compelled to keep staring.
Later on, the house was torn down. Apparently, no one would live in it; so the lot was eventually purchased by some random company. But as of this publishing, the overgrown lot still stands (minus a house)-and no construction has begun.
