Mothers Day Hand Printed T-Shirt
Materials:
White prewashed T-shirt
Acrylic or fabric paints (one color for each child's handprint)
Black medium point permanent marker
Piece of cardboard or plastic bag
Styrofoam or glass plate
Small paint brush
If your T-shirt is not prewashed, you will need to wash and dry it to remove any sizing from it.
Instructions:
Lay T-shirt on a flat surface and put a piece of cardboard or a plastic bag in-between the top and the bottom layers of the shirt.
For each child's handprint put a quarter size amount of paint on a plate. Take the paint brush and spread it around on the plate till it is the size of the child's hand. Next take the child's hand and press it in to the paint, lift hand and if there are any spots that do not have paint on it, brush some on with the paint brush.
Now take the child's hand and press it on the T-shirt, gently pressing each finger slightly for a good print. Repeat this with a different color for each child.
Let paint dry for 24 hours and print each child's name in their handprint.
Mothers Day Framed Corkboard
Material:
Picture frame - desired size, antique or new
Roll of cork
Braided trim
Thumb tacks
Tacky glue
If you are using an old frame with no cardboard backing or picture frame hanger, you will need these items:
Tack nails
Picture frame hanger
Piece of cardboard, cut to fit the inside of the frame
Instructions:
Remove any glass that may be on the picture frame.
Take the piece of cardboard backing, set it on the cork roll and trace.
Cut the piece of cork out and glue the cardboard backing and cork together.
Place the corkboard with backing, in to the picture frame and attach. If needed, put in tack nails to hold the corkboard in place.
Turn over and on the front take the braided trim and glue it on to the corkboard, along the frame.
If needed put the picture frame holder on at this time.
Mothers Day Doily Bowl
Materials:
Bowl to use as mold
Crocheted doily - the size needed to cover bowl
Liquid starch
Container to put liquid starch in
Plastic wrap
Instructions:
Put a piece of plastic wrap on a counter top or table to work on. Set the bowl upside down on the plastic wrap, and then cover the bowl completely with more plastic wrap.
Pour some of the liquid starch in to a container and place the doily in it. Mix the doily around a bit, making sure that it is saturated. Take the doily out of the container and squeeze out the liquid starch.
Next set the doily evenly over the bowl. If you would like a fluted edge, form the edge at this time, by holding forefinger and thumb at the edge of the doily, about two - three inches apart. With your other hand, pinch the doily in the middle between your fingers and pull slightly to make the flute, repeat completely around the bowl. Let the doily dry on the bowl 24 to 48 hours, and then remove doily bowl.
