Special places for Dinner in Raleigh

Michael Dean's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar is one of those places that well-heeled people like to consider an inexpensive lunch place. The restaurant moved to its current location from a much more daunting facility.

The atmosphere is a bit like a very clean sports bar, while the food is to die for. If meeting with a few people, the space is fine. For large groups, Max suspects the layout could make things difficult.

The prices are considered moderate. If you skip drinks and desert, Max can buy that one.

The food has always been exceptional with real attention paid to it by the chef and staff.

Max has always found the service very polite and attentive at this establishment.

The Thanksgiving dinner is listed as:
Adults $24.99
Children $9.99 (under 10)

This includes a sumptuous menu that can be found by following the first link at the end of the article.

One special part of the Thanksgiving Dinner Menu that you will probably not find at any other restaurant is some of Michael Dean's seafood specialties.

The restaurant has plenty of parking near the building and there is extra parking, if needed, in the adjoining shopping mall.

Located on Falls of Neuse Road just north of Millbrook Road and south of Spring Forest Road, the restaurant is easily visible.

The Location is:

The Angus Barn, one of the most famous restaurants in the area, is not surprisingly the most expensive for Thanksgiving Dinners. Because they make exceptions for kids and seniors, the total bill might be equal to a lower priced restaurant.

This restaurant has its own Iron Chef. It is known for fantastic meals and service. The facility was rebuilt from the original after a fire. Those who saw the buildings before and after could hardly tell the difference.

If you have never eaten at the Angus Barn, the Thanksgiving Day Feast is an excellent opportunity to do so with a fixed price. You may have to skip a few Sunday dinners out, but it will be well worth it.

Dinner, any dinner, at the Angus Barn is a true experience. This is a place where you are expected to take your time and enjoy every morsel. If you like wine with your dinner, the Angus Barn has a well stocked wine cellar. This is not some little chiller at the back of the restaurant. This is a real wine cellar with row upon row of fine wine. (Max was once given a tour with a group of friends)

The wine cellar has a dining area so a tour is not always possible.

Inside the building is huge and grand. Max always finds it exceptionally festive. Taking the family to this restaurant for Thanksgiving will provide a very memorable experience.

Thanksgiving Dinner 2008 is listed at:
$38.00 for adults
$25.00 for seniors (over 65)
$15.00 for Children (5 to 12)
Free for Children (under 5)

Located on Glenwood Avenue (Route 70), just south of the intersection of US 540, the restaurant can only be reached from the Westgate Road on-ramp to US 70. From 540 going east or west, take the 70 exit toward Raleigh. This brings you to a light to cross Westgate Road. Go straight across and then get in the right hand lane. This turns into the restaurant parking lot.

The Angus Barn is located at:
