Three People Safe After Being Held Hostage at Discovery Communications in Silver Springs, MD

Jame Jay Lee, 43, was shot by police and held in custody. The three people he held as hostages have been rescued. All are safe and have no injuries.

The police evacuated the Discovery Communications building in Silver Springs, MD.

When Lee was shot, black smoked seemed to emerge from an explosive device strapped to his chest.

Police determined that Lee needed to be shot because he would not agree to any of the negotiations that were being offered to him to let the three hostages out of the building.

Lee entered the Discovery Communications Building and he may have fired a round of shots. Then he took the three people hostage.

Trained negotiators responded to the conflict and talked with Lee, who has had issues with discovery earlier.

Lee was watched on cameras and what he was saying could be heard.

Gunfire had to be used against Lee. Lee is now deceased, though no direct cause has been given. It is only known that it may be because of the gunfire or it may be because of the explosive devices strapped to his body.

The Discovery Communications building is still considered a crime scene. Police believe there may be some boxes and backpacks with gun or explosive devices hidden in the building.

I'm grateful that the hostages are safe. Hopefully there will be some counseling services available for them as they work through this ordeal they just experienced.
