Three Reasons to Write for Associated Content

It's Not Enough to Want to Write...

E. Hignutt
Many people want to be writers; but not many are willing to serve the time to learn the craft. Fewer still are willing to write. Many are easily discouraged. With the small amounts of regular monetary encouragement, Associated Content is the perfect place to hone your skills, polish your prose, and create the habit of writing.

Reason #1: So you may only get $3 for that work of art that you spent an hour sweating over. But where else can you get that $3 or more per piece of work while you're learning? And it adds up over time. Think of it as your allowance. You want to buy a writing book? Earn the money through A.C. first. Want a new magazine subscription? Or software? Get writing.

Reason #2: You can write every day. You can submit every day. So do it. Write every single day. Pick whatever strikes your fancy. Got an interesting event downtown in no-where-ville? It doesn't matter. Write about it. Ticked off about something you see in the news? You can use that too. Just put your butt in the chair and write. Write daily.

Reason #3: Read others. Compare your work with theirs. Think you can do better? Than do so. (And keep counting those little $$ arriving regularly into your paypal account......)

How does this work together to create a better writer? Unless you do it, it won't.

So how do you make the time? A.C. is there for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. No excuses. Only got 5 minutes? Sit butt in chair and start writing; save your work and revise in the next 5 minutes. You don't need huge chunks of time to be successful. You need to commit.

Okay, so what do I write about? A.C.'s got you covered. Under the publish tab, on the right hand side - click that button over there - the one with templates to help you get started. See? Not so difficult is it?

But if you join AC, and you make a commitment to yourself to write a little something every day (Or 2 times a week, you decide.) you will become a better writer. Practice improves us all.

So experiment in this forum. Try out different topics, different styles, different tones. Write an opinion piece or two. (So they don't usually pay for op-ed pieces. They are good exercise.) It's okay. You're allowed. And guess what? That tiny little $3 - it goes up. Honest.
