Three Reasons You're Still Fat

Extreme Diets

You heard from a friend that her friend lost ten pounds in two weeks by eating only two apples per day. Does it work? Sure it does. Is it healthy? Not at all. Low calorie diets work temporarily, but the 10 lbs that you lose in the first two weeks will more than likely come right back in your first week off of the diet. It is human nature to want to eat three meals per day, and not like the feeling of being starved. That is the main reason why these low calorie diets don't work out in the long run. Instead of going on such an extreme diet, just make better food choices. Realistically, there is no need to count calories if you already know the difference between healthy and unhealthy. So if you are ever faced with making the choice between a salad and hot wings as an appetizer choose the hot wings. If you are presented with a cup of Jell-O and a slice of pumpkin pie for dessert, choose the Jell-O.

Laziness

You got all amped up because you are determined to lose weight, and this time you are really going to diet and exercise everyday. But two weeks down your journey you find yourself plopped on your couch watching King of Queens while shoveling Kit Kats down your pie hole as fast as you can... while your aerobics class is in session. What went wrong? You set unattainable goals for yourself. When starting a new workout regime it's important that you set an attainable weekly goal for yourself. It will keep you motivated to keep working out when you see that each week you are meeting your goal. Do you want to lose two, three or even four pounds in a week? It's totally doable, but it's going to take a lot of hard work. Do you want to lose 10 lbs in a week to fit into that tight little number you purposely bought two sizes too small for your annual office party? Sorry, not going to happen.

You Don't Eat Healthy After a Diet

Just because you go on a diet for two weeks and finish it without cheating, doesn't mean that you must reward yourself with going to Burger King and a whopper, extra large fries, large soda and an Oreo sundae. The sole purpose of your diet was to lose weight, wasn't it? So why would you screw up your success for a short moment of salty goodness. It's just not worth it. The smarter way for you to come off of your diet is to do it slowly. Introduce other foods slowly into your diet and in moderation. It's totally okay to eat chocolate once a month, but keep it at that, just once per month.
