Where to eat in Raleigh

One of Raleigh's favorite restaurants will be open for Christmas dinner. The Irregardless has some of the best food in the Triangle. This restaurant is a favorite of both vegetarians as well as omnivores.

The food is always great and the service is better. Max and his wife come here for special occasions because it provides both atmosphere and a complex menu.

It was a delight when Max talked to them and found out they would be open on Christmas Day starting at 1PM.

This restaurant can be found at:

Irregardless Café
901 W. Morgan St., Raleigh
833-8898
Open: 1 pm -8pm

Another choice for a Christmas dinner, should you find that in the rush you forgot to buy food, is the Posta Tuscan Grille in the Marriot. Located on the corner of East Davie St. and Fayetteville St., it is centrally located in the city.

Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant has and Italian fare. When Max's children were teenagers he used to bring them to fine hotels like this for special meals. If your children or family would like to try a taste of Tuscany for the holiday, this would be a good choice.

This restaurant can be found at:

Posta Tuscan Grille
500 Fayetteville St.,
(in the Marriott City Center)
Raleigh. NC
227-3370
Open: 11-2 and 5-10 pm lunch and dinner

If your are like the Irish, you may have told your spouse that you had a very special treat for Christmas Dinner. If you are like some of us and forget things promised months or minutes earlier, you are completely done in.

Raleigh's most famous Irish Pub is open on Christmas Day from 1PM till the wee hours. What can be more special than a delicious Irish meal with a few chasers to ease the memory?

You might want to leave the children at home if you are planning to be out for a bit. (A bit means something more flexible in Irish, Max thinks)

If you only had a mind to have a fine meal, even with the kids, an early afternoon Christmas Dinner can be had. It is possible to eat some fine Irish vittles and still get home early enough to put the wee ones to bed.

This restaurant can be found at:
Tir na nÓg Irish Pub & Restaurant
218 S. Blount Street
Raleigh, NC
(919) 833-7795
Open: 1PM till after midnight

If you find these restaurants don't meet your needs, you can follow the links at the end to restaurants in the nearby towns.

Max wasn't able to call all restaurants in the area. If you are near a hotel with a restaurant, they are often open. The difficulty with hotels is that they may be short staffed for the day. This can mean long waits.

Twenty four hour restaurants and Asian food restaurants may be open locally, but this can be a very hit and miss situation. Max ate at a local Waffle House one Christmas with his wife. The restaurant at the hotel they were staying at in RTP had let the student waiters go home for the holiday and there was no one to cook or serve the guests.

Merry Christmas!
