1. Exercise Every Morning
You might be thinking, "How the heck can exercise make me face life better?" Well, here's a short story of mine on how exercise changed my life:
"Back then, I absolutely hated exercise. I didn't like tiring myself with push-ups, sit-ups, jogging and chores, and I always thought there were better things to do. But then I thought that something wasn't right. I feel like I'm not really doing what I'm doing. My life felt....empty. I was like a zombie - my body was moving on its own, while I just watch what's happening around. I thought with a little exercise, I might wake up from this slumber. So the next morning, I sprung from my bed and did several stretches, sit-ups, push-ups and jumping jacks. It felt like nothing happened, but a few hours later, everything changed - I was in control of my body, and I truly felt the things around me. A gentle breeze and the warmth of the sun immediately uplifted my spirits. I got better output in school and had more fun with my friends. It's like nothing can go wrong with my day. For the first time in many years, I felt alive."
Exercise, as all of us know, makes our bodies healthy. It allows our blood to circulate throughout our system faster and more thoroughly, enabling our senses to work to their fullest. This means you will have better focus of things, allowing you to really feel the day. Exercise has many benefits, so why not create a daily exercise routine? The best time to exercise is in the morning, right after you wake up (and go to the bathroom). The work-out steps you do must relate to the following:
a. You know how to do the steps properly (of course!)
b. It will make your bones crackle and your body heat up (steps like stretching and jumping jacks are good for this, and even some chores that make you gasp for air)
c. You can finish them everyday (don't drag yourself. Only do as much work-out as you can)
Some of you might be angry at me telling you to exercise. Though it is hard and we often lack the willingness to do it, I recommend you to try exercising in the morning at least once, because I assure you - you'll never look at exercise the same way again.
2. Go Travel
St. Augustine wrote: "The world is a book and those who stay at home read only a page." Do you relate to that?
The world has full of surprises. If we all spend most of our time at home or at work/school, then we are certainly missing a lot. So many wonders and discoveries are waiting to happen just outside our doorstep. Traveling enriches our lives with knowledge, fun and adventure, helps us escape the pressures of daily life, allows us to see the hidden beauty of our world and show us why life is truly worth living.
There are many breathtaking sights to behold in the world. You can travel to Paris to see the bravura of lights of the city and the famous Eiffel Tower; to Egypt to see the Great Pyramids that stood the test of time; or to Asia to walk on the ancient and world-renowned Great Wall of China. Of course, not everyone has the money to travel abroad, but that doesn't mean you cannot have your adventures. A visit to a local aquarium, zoo, park or store that you've never went to before is already an opportunity for adventure and countless discoveries. Or, you can simply take a stroll throughout your city - you'll never know when you'll find something new and exciting. The world is truly a beautiful place, and the time when we step out of our house, is when our life really begins.
3. Do kindness
Kindness is a wonderful thing. We have it in our instinct, and it is one of the factors that allowed us to survive all these years. Not only do other people benefit from it, it also makes us feel better about ourselves. Don't you agree?
A Chinese proverb says: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody."
Studies show that kindness brings forth many benefits to our physical, mental and emotional health. Our bodies release endorphins, also called "happy chemicals," when we perform a good deed. Not only is it the stuff that makes us so high and happy after doing kindness, it also relieves us of pain, stress and troubles. Kindness helps regulates our blood pressure and strengthen our resistance against diseases. It is also known to fight depression and mental degradation. Kindness also rejuvenates our spirits and heightens our self-confidence.
Isn't kindness just amazing? Even one small good deed allows us to live longer and feel more optimistic about life. It also pleases the mighty One up above. Kindness brings us joy and happiness that no money can ever buy, so never end the day without doing a good deed!
These are just some of the secrets on how to face life better and I hope these tips help you appreciate it. Always remember that life can be harsh and cruel sometimes, but beneath every dark cloud, there is always a silver lining.
