Proper Diet
Developing better eating habits may seem hard to do at first, but once you see how easy it is to eat healthier, you will soon change your mind. Eating healthier does not mean that you can't continue to enjoy the foods that you know and love, it only means that you have to prepare them a different way. If you eat a lot of fried foods, try grilling or baking some of your favorite foods. You don't have to miss out on any flavor by grilling and baking, the only thing that you will loose is the fat content in that meal. Another great thing to do is replace some of your snacks with fresh fruits and vegetables and drink plenty of water. If you're not sure about what to eat or how to get started on the right patch, you can go to www.shape.com and you will find free recipes on healthy meal choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Exercise
Why does almost everyone hate the thought of exercising? Getting some exercise on a daily basis is very important, because it will help you to feel better. You can go for a short walk everyday or get on the treadmill for a few minutes. It really doesn't matter what you do as long as you do something, because every little bit counts. I agree that going to the gym everyday may not be for everybody, but we all need to get some type of exercise on a daily basis. Start out by doing what you can and believe it or not, but each day you will get a little stronger. If you have cable television, look for the exercise channel and this is the place where you will surely find something that you can do. They have things like dance and step aerobics and guess what, there's even a ten minute work-out program.
Sleep
Getting the right amount of sleep every night is a must and you have to start making sleep a priority in your life. Once your sleep is off it may seem hard to get it back on track again, but it can be done.
You can start by doing the same thing that you do to get up in the morning, yes I mean by using your alarm clock. Decide on a specific bedtime that will allow you to get at least eight hours of sleep and start setting your alarm clock every evening to alarm one hour before your bedtime. This will allow you to start winding down and getting ready for bed. Do this for about a month and your body will soon adapt to a routine of going to bed at a certain time every night.
As you can see getting a little exercise and eating better and of course getting your proper sleep will add some much needed balance to your life. Once you do these three things everything else will fall into place, plus you will look and feel great about yourself.
