Three Simple Tips to Avoid Catching Swine Flu

Some people think, it is over, the peak of the flue hysteria might be, but there are always new dangerous bugs out there, and it is good to be prepared for whatever virus our body has to fight against. Here are some simple and easy steps to pick up viruses, let it be flue or something else.

1. Hygiene
For most of us it is essential to wash out hands, but do we go right to the sink after touching the rail on the bus or a door in a busy office? We don't always have time or chance to wash our hands, but we can use hand sanitizers to protect ourselves from infections. If there is an epidemic in your town, area or neighborhood, school, it is also important to wash your hands right after entering your home,stand well back in a queue don't shake hands if not necessary with a person you don't know, aviod kissing people (other than our close relatives), open the windows at least three times a day, and if permitted in the workplace, too.

2.Take immune booster supplements
They are considered to help your immune system fight with viruses. The best supplements you can take are containing Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Iron, echinacea

3.Natural remedies for prevention
- Garlic (eat at least once a week or if you cannot stand the taste or smell, you can take it as a drink made with alcohol) Garlic is known to help keeping your nostrils clean, and you can replace antibiotics with squeezed garlic mixed with honey.
- Camomile tea
(you can get it in any herbal shop, the ones packaged in bulk are actually usually stronger than the ones in the teabag.)
Drink it hot, with the juice of half a lemon and 2 spoons of honey.
- Ginger
Put a ginger root in boiling water for 5 minutes, take it out, and drink the water left behind (now it is our ginger tea) with loads of honey.
- Water + Sea Salt =disinfectant for the throat
Add 1 tablespoon of salt to 2 deciliters of water and rinse your throat with it. It helps you clean out germs and protects from infections.
- Lemon and grapefruit
Drink a lemon's juice mixed with mineral water, freshly squeezed orange juice or cut a grapefruit in half at night, pour some honey on it and attach the two halves again, put it in the fridge overnight and eat it in the morning.
